I'm not necessarily talking about bringing the "South Park Movie" to stage (in fact, I'd rather they don't), but something else. Maybe a Terrance and Phillip musical!
Who's with me?

Um...they are. They're writing a musical about Mormons with Jeff Marx (who co-composed Avenue Q)...

Three years ago, Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez (composers of "Avenue Q") said on NY1's on stage that they and Matt Stone and Trey Parker (creators of "South Park") were going to collaborate on a musical for Broadway. Stone and Parker apparently came to see "Avenue Q," enjoyed it and the four of them went out for drinks. In the course of their conversation, it turned out that each pair had separately come up with an idea for a show about "a particular religious text." They all then decided to work on that show together as a musical for Broadway.
Marx and Lopez wouldn't specify which text, but did state in a round about way that it wasn't the Bible ("similar, but no" is what Marx said when asked). Given Stone and Parker once wrote, directed and starred in a film called "Orgazmo" about a naive young Mormon who ends up in the adult film industry, I'm thought perhaps the show will have something to do with the Book of Morman, but that's just a guess.
But that was three years ago and there hasn't been any word since that I've heard about the project and whether it still might happen.
Yay! Margo responded to me! :) Thanks Margo. I'll have to keep that on my radar.
Y'know, I like Marx and Lopez, but the guys from SOUTH PARK don't really do it for me. How the show's run for so long is beyond me... No offense, just personal opinion.
Didn't they write Cannibal! the musical?
I could have sworn they did...
"My heart is as full as a baked potato"
Yes, they did. :) They also wrote BASEketball.

The genius of the South Park movie was the music. Did the guys that wrote that score ever think about doing anything on Broadway?
I think I remember somewhere that they did "Hairspray", but it's probably not true.

No that's John Waters.
I would also guess The Book of Mormon... fans of South Park will recall the Joseph Smith episode ("dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb").
Now South Park is an equal opportunity offender so it could be anything. Not sure it is what is missing on Broadway but eventually they might get bored with Television. They already have a show that spoofs Broadway running and really that is mostly what South Park, Simpson feed off of. Everything feeds off of social commentary so nothing really is original. Few can still fall under the, "never been done" anymore, even on Broadway.
The writers of Avenue Q though could use all the help they can get. I don't blame them for looking there. It needed a lot help in the storyline department to me but they were good, somewhat creative, so this direction could work for all of them.

I thought the Avenue Q guys broke up?
Wasn't Matt Stone a music major in college, and doesn't he write the songs for the show? They could write their own show :P
All I can say is I would love to see Cannibal the Musical done onstage.
Cannibal HAS been done on stage. I haven't watched it in forever, but I know on the DVD release there's footage of a stage production - somewhere...
Personally, I would love seeing the movie transition to stage.
I have the soundtrack on iTunes and everytime I hear it, I can envision in my head what it would look like in a theater. The music is just so perfect and reeks musical.
That's true, but the reason why I don't want it done on stage is because it'd be impossible to pull off. And the guy playing Cartman would have high expectations to live up to, as Cartman's one of the most beloved adult oriented cartoon characters of all time. I wouldn't want him to be butchered by some child actor who hardly knows what he's doing (sorry if I'm a bit harsh on child actors, but almost every single one that I've ever seen was horrible).
See, in my head the kids would be played by adults.
