jesus how is this still running? the Shuberts must be giving them a GREAT deal on rent. that theater is cursed, they really would be well off to just add a seat and make it a broadway house.

Even weirder is Darlene pushing the start date until the last weekend of performances.
The show has been on life support since day one, so the real question is "what took so long for reality to kick in?" Having said that ...... I describe this to friends as the most enjoyable bad show I've ever seen. Some very solid talent on stage, a glitzy over-the-top production design, the costumes are impressive (when the cast actually wears clothes- pay attention to the shoes, the wigs, etc), choreography better than some dumb Broadway shows I've seen, and of course some great songs. The "book" is mostly blank pages. The worst reaction I can ever have in a theater is boredom .... and I was never bored.

Without audiences being informed. Went last night for her first show and didn't catch on until intermission (via an usher) that she wasn't starting as announced. (Had no idea what her participation would be.) Listed on the board and in the Playbill. Nope. Sorry. TDF still has her listed as starting last night, and has dates on sale into late August. I liked this little show a lot and was happy to support it. Wish they'd handled this more professionally.
Wait, so Darlene hasn't started yet? When exactly does she start??
The show’s final four performances will feature doo-wop chart-topper and Broadway actress Darlene Love (Hairspray), known for her hits “He's a Rebel“ and “Christmas Baby Please Come Home.” She will join the cast August 5 and remain with the show through its final performance on August 7. Love was originally announced to join the cast July 28.
I went last night, after getting tickets because Ms. Love was scheudled to start then. Found out during the day that she re-scheduled 1st perfs. Disappointed but show was, as always, great. Got home with the bad news from All That Chat, that the show will close 8/7. I fell, by surprise, in love with this show. I will see the last show. I will miss it terribly.
So sorry to have made this TRIP last night - Even if Darlene would showed up nothing could have helped this Vegas lounge act - I left during Intermission and had to shower immediately - the cast tried real hard to entertain
Anybody catch Nia Soux? I have a sad, sad obsession with "Dance Moms" and am so curious about her performance.
Hopefully the shower got every bit of this horrendous experience off of you.

I love this show, have seen it three times and will see it again before it closes.
So glad there are others who feel lighter and happier after seeing Trip. I've seen it well over 50 times now. I can see how others might not feel this way, and I have read everyone of your posts!, just saying its cruise ship or Vegas style stuff, but worse, etc. I do hope that people here who love theatre and, really, that's why we're all here, will find that special show that you keep going back and back to. It's a great feeling. Thx, Trip of Love.

Wow You beat my friend Joe who has only seen it a mere 9 times. What a slackard. Very enjoyable especially over many vastly overrated shows past and present.
EthylMae please don't tell me you paid $ to see TRIP 50 times - checkout The Marvelous Marvelletts for classic songs plus humor which Trip lacked big time - I selling T-shirts #TripFromHell
Talk about beating a dead horse. We get you do not like it. This is like piling on in football. Give it a rest.

It wasn't a great show but I had fun with it the two times I saw it (maybe not for the right reasons but this isn't The Bachelor) and I kind of liked knowing it was there. The theatre is a bit of a trek so I'm curious about what will move in next. I'm wishing the best for the talented and enthusiastic cast that (mostly) stuck it out for this long.

Yeah no kidding. I admit I would not be able to justify paying the price to see this (and giving up a slot for a show I really wanted to see) as a tourist in NYC, but the videos for it always come up on my facebook feed for whatever reason, and usually I watch them--it looks campy and fun. *shrug*
Trip was like an old pair of comfortable slippers. Nothing fanciful but they were there whenever you needed them.

It's her money so why do you care???
Also, it's the Marvelous Wonderettes.
(And LuminousBeing, I am also unfortunately obsessed with Dance Moms and am curious about Nia in this show.)

I enjoyed this show for what it was; a fun revue with a big budget.
For those who asked, Nia does great in the show. She is not a "star," more a featured ensemble dancer. Looks like she's having a great time up there, and from all accounts is lovely to work with.
