Has anyone seen Tuesdays at Tescos? Was thinking of going but wanted to see what the board thought of it and if it's worth seeing.
Thanks!
I saw it the other day and thought it was alright. Simon Callow's performance is really amazing but the play itself is whatever. Even though it's only 75 mins your mind does start to wander at the end which makes the final "scene" unclear. Other people around me were questioning the outcome as well so it wasn't just me.
A French play translated into something very similar to one of Alan Bennett's very English "Talking Heads" monologues — a glimpse into the loneliness and small triumphs in the life of a timid crossdresser living with his elderly father. Lovely production, and Simon Callow is wonderful as always.
I didn't find the conclusion confusing, ClydeBarrow. PM me if you'd like to discuss.

I attended this past Sunday mattinee. Callow is a truly superior actor in this one man/woman exploration of his identity and relationship with a father. Introspective and cerebral but quite entertaining and touching. The ending of the play is clear if you listen and are attentive.

While I didn't see this show, my partner who is happens to be pre-op male-to-female, did go see it this past weekend and completely raved about the show.
She said that the play itself was really good but it all came down to Simon Callow. She has never been completely satisfied with performances over the years of transgendered individuals..in fact the most recent one she thought came close to being completely believable was Tony Sheldon in Priscilla.
However, she found Callow to be so real and so genuine that it was almost like he wrote the play for himself or better yet, he had lived it.
Sadly I can't make it to see the show but I was very pleased she was so moved by Callow's work and the show.
