He looks way too old.

^Kyle Dean Masey, eh? I don't think he can pull of 18...Tveit is pushing it. But Kyle does have a nice voice.

Yeahhh, looking at pictures, Kyle is gorgeous but definitely pushing it age wise. Aaron gets away with it because he has quite a baby face, but Kyle... looks way older than 17 haha. Definitely very very good looking though :P
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

"I know he's unavailable (touring with Mary Poppins), but Andrew Keenan Bolger would be good in the role."
Eh, I dunno. I LOVE AKB but just don't see him in this role. He's more quirky, charactery than would be appropriate. Not to mention onstage he would probably look younger than Jenn Damiano.
Although I wouldn't mind seeing his buff little body in those boxers at the top of the show :-$

Funny, I was standing on the corner of 45th and 8th last night waiting to go to "Desire Under the Elms" - it was about 6:40pm - and I saw Kyle Dean Massey talking to a friend walking right by me up 8th ave. I was surprised because isn't he in Wicked? So wouldn't/shouldn't he already be at the theater getting read or do they not require the actors to be there that early? And then, I looked across the street and saw Marc Kudish standing by the street vendor talking to someone. That amazed me too. I was like, shouldn't he be backstage chillen or something?
Anyways, Massey has a KILLER voice, but he's way too old for the role. It just wouldn't work. It's too obvious that he's not the right age. I mean, Aaron doesn't exactly scream 17 either, but it sorta works.

Any how does this makes sense AT ALL. Andrew can't sing. You have to be able to sing and act for that matter, to play Gabe. Awful choice.

That's not too shocking, call is 7 for most!
Though I often think the same thing. He is in the show a little longer...

Oh okay, I just always assumed it was at least an hour and a half before, but I guess not.
Massey just needs to get bumped up to full time Fieyro.

Kyle Dean Massey? Really? well I guess I won't be seeing it while aaron is gone because there's no way kyle will be age believable.

Yeah, I'm kind of glad that it's the summer that Aaron's going to be out for. Because I live in Vermont but go to school 30 minutes from the city. If I was living around the city in the summer I'd be annoyed because it would be my ideal time to hit up the show without having to worry about having too much school work haha. But this way I won't be annoyed at not being able to get to the city too much this summer :P
For me personally, the show without Aaron would be almost as not-as-cool as the show without Alice. Plus, I mean, one of the things that stood out most to me was the chemistry between Alice and Aaron. It's not just that each of them individually is brilliant, but they also just have this super strong on stage connection. And I think that's pretty vital to the show. Not to say that Alice couldn't have great chemistry with someone else too, but... she and Aaron are definitely particularly tight together.

I don't see what the big deal is. Aaron doesn't even pass for 17.

^Aaron has a definite baby face though. He passes easily for like.. 20 or 21 I think
Kyle looks very much in the 25-30 range, and couldn't really pass for much plausibly younger
with Aaron it's not TOO much of a stretch to imagine him being 17

Either way, I don't think of Gabe as being 17/18 which doesn't really matter anyways. All you have to know is he is her son, ya know? Age isn't really that much of a deal too much. But maybe if Massey shaves his face and whatnot he could pass? He's pretty short, right?

I spoke with Aaron Tveit in Shubert Alley. He was quite charming and, to be honest, up close I think he could pass for 17 or 18 -- great smile, boyish face.

See, i think it's the opposite. I think he passes on stage if you aren't sitting int he first few rows, but when i saw the show from the front row i felt that he (and Adam as well, but to a lesser extent) don't look the right age. Maybe it was the stage make up.

Yeah I totally agree, even in the 5th row I thought Aaron was totally passable for 18, but at the stage door he looked his age.

From FRONT row he was pretty darn passable to me!
I mean, I feel like if anything his body is just much more well defined than most 17 years olds' bodies would be haha. Like.. I think it's pretty rare for a 17 year old to look like they could be an underwear model hehe (not that I'm complaining, by ANY mean :P)
But his face looks very young! He's got an adorable boyish smile too

Younger kids are more aware of their bodies than ever before. I have a number of students (high school) that work out steadily and look pretty darn good. (in a totally non icky kind of way.)
ADDITIONALLY....since he lives in their imaginations, of course he should look more "ideal".
But totally instinct: Tveit = Yum.

^Oh yeah, it totally works because Gabe IS supposed to be "the ideal golden boy". It's just, thinking about my own senior class last year, there were only a select couple of guys who looked anywhere near as good as Aaron. A lot of guys that age are just still in a bit of that awkward stage.
But yeah, again, it does work that Gabe would be the exception to that considering he's how Diana imagines him to be :)
And yes, yum indeed. That boxers-only part in Just Another Day from front row was.... *fans self just thinking about it*
(There's no logical reason that had to be staged that way that I can think of, so I'm convinced they had him do that solely to provide us with a very delicious bit of eye candy. Which I am very appreciative of! hehe)

It's not totally unnecessary. He's just waking up. He slept in his boxers. If anything it's more realistic than if they were to put him in a pair of pajamas.

Yeah but they also could have put him in an undershirt and boxers and had him brushing his teeth or something.
I sort of hate that moment because it's so obviously forced. Like, he has this perfect white towel and his hair isn't messed up from his "shower." I dunno. It's not like it even matters.
But I think age is never an issue with an original cast. I mean, look at Spring Awakening. The three leads didn't look their age at all. But then the replacement cast came around and they went way young. And now the casting notices say "only 18 and younger." So who knows.

Perfect being the operative word, I suppose.
