A little far into the future I know, but so many great CD's! With flops (HiFi), older shows (Happy End), limited engagements (Martin Short), and shows that closed too early (Evil Dead), all getting recordings, it seems like its been a really great time for cast recordings lately.

Yes, they said it would be out in March but that seems mighty quick for a show just recorded. No release date yet.

From a Playbill Article
In his March newsletter Brown also reports that a cast recording has been made for 13, but there are no current plans to sell the disc. Writes Brown, "We did actually go into the studio this weekend and record the entire show with original cast and band . . . and we are going to mix that down and make an album. But we're not planning to sell it at the moment. There are numerous changes [book writer] Dan [Elish] and I want to make in the show, and we want the first commercially available recording to reflect all of those changes. So we're going to use the record we made just for promotions, for advertising, for raising money, all so we can bring the show to its next incarnation, wherever that may be." Brown said, however, that he will post some of the material from the recording sessions on his official website.

Not being released, but there are tracks, and they will be mixed. So this means if it goes nowhere (god forbid), there will be tracks for a possible cast recording.

How ridiculous, I hope they didn't get them, they don't deserve to get paid twice for the same work.

and to think, so many people don't even BUY albums anymore. i'll be the archaic one with a whole room full of dusty cast recordings hoping my fridge opens up and spits out a Broadway diva who sings to me...

We are fortunate to live in an age when most of the OBC recordings made in the last 65 years have been re-issued on CD. Bryan's "wish list" names 4 of about 3 dozen OCR's (and SCR's) that have not as yet made it to CD.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

"Unfortunately, I have not heard anything at this point, so it looks doubtful. Certainly, there is a chance for a last moment reprieve, but I would be surprised.
Thank you for your message."
That's too bad. Kristin's performance needed to be captured. Perhaps she'll put her big solos on her next CD. At least we'll probably see her do "Gorgeous" on the Tony's since it's likely that Apple Tree will be up for Revival.

Btw-was "I'm Lost" on the OBC? I thought I heard that on one of those Lost In Boston CD's, meaning it had been cut from the original version. Great Song!
Some of my wishes-
Doonesbury
Children of Eden - London Cast
Both are on vinyl/cassette but will probaly never make it to CD.
