I was hoping Emma Thompson would finally end up playing Hannigan.
What a goddamed joke. A sad joke, really.
This is a shame to the memory of the great Dottie Louden. God forgive 'em, they know not what they do.

Not really.
They should just fill the remaining roles with stars and get Patti as Hannigan.
So, are they casting all of the villains as white folk?
Because I will have a HUGE problem with that.
What will the Scientology angle be?
So, Sandy doesn't sing.
And this is a musical.
And Miss Hannigan is a major role.
Okay.
Maybe they'll take my suggestion and dub her. Seriously, they need to start soon this again!!!
If they want to strike while the iron is hot, they should sign Melissa McCarthy and just auto-tune her.
Bettyboy, McCarthy will be filming her television series MIKE & MOLLY when ANNIE goes into production in the fall.
I would like to hear her tell Annie that she wasn't sure which end that came out of.

I agree.
But unfortunately the world is so twisted nowadays that actually many more black people than white people are being racist, and they don't even realize it......

I have been a Sandy fan forever (even back when you weren't supposed to be). I find her a solid actress and wonderful comedienne. I think its a surprising choice and those are the casting decisions I can get excited about. It might be a train wreck, but of this role, we all thought Katie Finneran would be perfection when her casting was announced. How wrong we were. Maybe now there's some built in Irony Karma to this unexpected casting and Sandy will be fantastic.
Though she claims otherwise, I'm guessing she CAN sing. Her mother was an opera star in Germany, so some of those genes must have filtered down. Did she do her own singing in the River Phoenix Country and Western movie? I can't remember.
I've always liked Bullock, so I'd enjoy seeing her, but honestly, I think she'll probably be the least contentious casting in this film.

Kristen Wiig would be great!
I know that Sandra Bullock didn't do her own singing in The Prince of Egypt, so I think that's concerning (Val Kilmer did his own singing).
It's not that Sandy is a bad actress in any way, I loved her in Miss Congeniality and The Blind Side. It's just that the character of Miss Hannigan is larger than life character,so she requires an actress with a large than life personality, a diva, which unfortunately Bullocks is not.
"'Annie' will hit theaters on Christmas Day 2014."
So the same day as Into the Woods?

^ Yes, it will be the same day.
However, Sandra Bullock will not be in this film.
Sandra Bullock Will Not Play Miss Hannigan in Upcoming ANNIE Film
I'm glad it didn't happened.
Queen Latiffah would be fun as would Jane Lynch.
Glad to hear Bullock is no longer in the picture.
Sony said to be looking 'top comic actresses' to play the part.
Hopefully Kristen Wiig or Melissa McCarthy will get it.

They should change her name to Anquisha.
