does anyone know if they're going to change the format of the contest page at all??
Just kinda sucks being in the back...no one is really going to go through 7 pages of people to find one to vote for....yes I"m being selfish...sorry! :)
I think I know how those 400 votes are happening... Actually...I KNOW how it is happening...
bww you need to not let people cheat to win this!
ETA- And why are there still international entries? And entries with no video? And entries that you can tell it is lip syncing? ALl of that doesn't really work.
Spidey you are awesome!
it was SO hardto pick who to vote for! I wish you got like 10 votes a day so I couldvote for more than one!

I think I know how people can get so many votes so quickly. I'm not saying everyone who has a lot of votes has gotten them this way.. perhaps they are that blessed and just have that many people to vote for them, but I've been in a lot of contests like this and there are always people who try to get around the system. I think these vote based contests go by your IP address. If that is the case, all someone has to do is use annonymous proxy servers and they can vote all they want ad nauseum by continually changing to different proxies. Unfortunately, until contests get a better system (the one on bix is the closest i've seen to working better at this), there will be ways to get around the rules. Again, not accusing anyone, but just stating what i've found to be true in the past being a part of stuff like this. I always wish things like this would be judged by actual impartial judges..
I totally agree with all of you...there was a contest a couple of months ago on SiteForRent.com where people did the same thing...it may not be the contestant themselves cheating but some random person trying to cause havoc...people will find a way around any system....
Rest assured that like our Fan Choice Awards - votes will be audited...
I have to admit - there really are some incredible voices in this contest. Fortunately you don't HAVE to vote for only one. You never know (ahead of time) when you run a contest like this - but the competition is intense...

I agree Craig. It's amazing how incredibly talented these people are. Many can even show Broadway stars a thing or two. SO PROUD of a lot of these guys and gals.

Craig.. do you happen to know if this audit will be able to tell if people are using anonnymous proxy servers masking their ip to vote multiple times? I've seen people get away with this so many times in the past that i'm not sure if there even IS a way to detect that. I love your quote by the way.. Willy Wonka was a favorite of mine growing up! *goes off to listen to "Pure Imagination" and dream away* lol
May I ask what exactly is being done to assure that you can tell if people are voting for themselves over and over again? How do things look on "your side of the computer?" If people are hacking into the system, how do you stop it? I agree - it makes no sense how some people on here can have gotten over 800 votes in less than one day. I can understand 800 votes in several days to maybe a week, but in one day - it seems fishy, especially if the person who's getting these vote isn't even truly singing in their video. And why do some people have the same video posted several times? Do those votes for the same video get counted as well?
Not trying to be rude by any means! Just raising what I hope are valid, and honest questions.
I agree with everything said about the votes. I was so shocked to see that Charissa and Stephanie and others with similar talent are not on the top with votes. I think BroadwayWorld should remove the videos where the people are clearly lip-synching, or the ones with no actual video. It just makes this kind of competition frustrating for those of us who tried really hard and actually care about winning this contest.
I think it's best to not discuss the methods for the simple reason of security. If people knew the several methods we use, they would try that much harder to try and beat it.
And listen - it might seem odd someone has 800 votes already - but given people's facebook friends, relatives and 2 weeks to campaign - it's not that unreasonable. Some people are DIE HARD contest people and do whatever they can by getting friends to help and send emails, etc, etc.

I'm currently 36th place in the contest But I know I've earned all my votes so I can sleep well (I've had about 100 people tell me they voted today--it's nice to see what people will do for one another :).
I invited all my facebook friends (232) who invited friends, my dad has told some 100 or so people who are voting and getting friends to vote, I've told myspace friends (400) so if everyone votes I should have about 700 votes. But not that many people will remember and even so I'll still not have 1200 in one day.
Thanks to those who voted once, who are taking this seriously, and who have given all of us such great feedback!!! I really truly appreciate it!
and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...
EIGHT HUNDRED? Oh my LORD!! lol. yeah.. that does seem a little fishy. I hadn't realized anyone had gotten that high already! And even with myspace and campaigning, I honestly don't see how someone could get that many in one day. I was in a contest where I busted by butt trying to keep up with people getting crazy amounts of votes.. I was making fliers, sending out emails (and had friends sending out emails to hundreds of people they knew making a chain), advetising on all of the many web places I belong to and have many subscribers/friends on, and even my husband's school was voting for me, and I didn't get that many votes in a week.. let alone one day. I still think people find ways to get around these systems, but.. I believe in Karma, so I will try not to get too worked up over this. Again, maybe these people are just that blessed.. I dunno.. I'll stop rambling now *sneaks out*
Elisha, I know. I have told everyone I know about this contest, and my dad even more so (in an almost annoying way :) but sweet nonetheless) and granted it is only the first day but I have 102 votes right now, and others doubled their votes in 45 minutes from 250 to 500...I watched it!
It's cool Elisha, we've gotten great feedback and that's all we really need, right?!...though a NYC trip is nice....lol
and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...
Oh.. and thanks so much DJ! I just saw what you wrote.. you did a wonderful job on yours as well.. (and I was singing along btw haha) :)
I guess that's what really matters.. It just feels good to know that people think you worthy or at least that you did a good job at what you love. As much as I'd love to win, getting that vote of confidence means so much and can definitely help make up for the fact that i'm going to lose HORRIBLY lol.
