I will be seeing the show in July and I would really love to meet Sigourney Weaver and David Hyde Pierce... Are they nice? Can I get pictures with them? Does anyone have past experiences with the two lovely people that they wouldn't mind sharing? Thanks so much!
I saw it about 4 weeks ago or so. Hyde Pierce did not sign or take pictures however, I heard that he was under the weather and he looked it. Weaver signed but did not take pictures although you could take picture of her signing. I got one. She also chatted a bit with people. She seems a bit shy. The actress that plays the maid was a blast at stage door. Very nice.
I passed by the stage door last night and Pierce was signing about ten minutes after the show ended. So I guess he gets out fast. He was chatting with people and appeared friendly, but that's just what I could see as I was passing by.
I've heard Weaver is very personable.
Pierce and Weaver both sign and take pictures, but Weaver only allows pictures OF her to be taken. They are both very sweet people, as are Kristine Nielsen and Shalita Grant. (Billy Magnussen usually creeps out when Weaver and Pierce are doing the line).

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback. xx

I saw it over a week ago and everyone signed, though Billy Magnussen seemed to be in a rush to leave. As other said, Weaver particularly takes her time.
You really need to grab Billy because he runs out of there.
As for David & Sigourney, they will sign whatever and take pics. I've said before, they're two of the most gracious actors you'll ever come across.

Again, I really appreciate your feedback. Has anyone heard anything or have experiences re Vanessa Williams at the Trip to Bountiful stage door? Will she do pics? xx
Went to the matinee yesterday. Weaver was out so can't comment on her, but Pierce was incredibly nice. He took 10-15 minutes to come out, signed, and took pictures! After that he scurried right back inside because it was between shows, but still can't believe he came out just to sign!

This is not specific to this show, but for a long time, I've been wondering if the stage door is the only means by which an actor can exit a theatre. It seems to me that there must be SOME other way an actor can leave without drawing attention to him/herself.

Yeah, of course. Most theatres have alternate exits. I know that the Marquis has a celebrity entrance and exit that's no where near the actual stage door. It depends on the theatre and the person.
I'm not sure Vanessa even come out the stage door at Bountiful- From what I heard only Tom Wopat does.
I've only seen David Hyde Pierce in Curtains. He came out to sign autographs and take pictures. He was very approachable.

Jordan, where do you suggested grabbing Billy?

I'm happy to hear DHP is approachable. Unfortunately, I've never heard of Curtains. Anyone care to enlighten me?
Manhattandreamer, Curtains was a Kander and Ebb musical on Broadway a few years back. It was a murder mystery-comedy.
Curtains the Musical info
"Curtains" was the 2006 musical for which DHP stole--oh, I mean WON--the TONY, beating out Raul Esparza. I'm not still bitter about it or anything.
I can't comment on "Bountiful," but I met Vanessa Williams at the SD for "Sondheim on Sondheim," and she both signed and took pictures. She took a while to come out, if I recall, and didn't linger for long, but was quite gracious when she was interacting with fans.

I have heard Vanessa is beyond nice and accommodating to her fans. I have also heard she doesn't stagedoor after Bountiful, which would break my heart.

Bump! Anyone been to the SD lately?
I went two weeks ago on a wed evening. I got my pic with weaver and pierce, all nice. The body guard did move miss weaver along so she would get to everyone. The stage door wasn't crowded like I thought it would be for her. Just make sure you have everything ready to get signed and camera ready. It might be different on a weekend with more tourists in town.
Kristine and David were extremely kind to me at the stage door. Signed and took photos. Sigourney also seemed lovely but I wasn't in her path. Billy was the only one who seemed to want to avoid the crowd, as seems to be common based on this thread, but on the day I was there he was chatting with a friend near the curb, which is certainly understandable, and his hood was up so not many people noticed him.

Tom Wopat is very gracious to come out at Stage Door. He always does it when he can.

I'm going to bump this bc I saw this show on Sunday and I want to share my experience. The show is PHENOMENAL!
In regards to the stage door, Billy Magnussen was the first to come out. He signed for everyone who wanted, but didn't have his own pen/Sharpie. He did pictures as well.
Liesel Allen Yeager was next out. She was very very sweet and personable. We joked while she took a picture with me.
Shalita was the next one to come out, but she only signed for those behind the barricades. She didn't sign for anyone off the sidewalk and only took a picture or two.
David Hyde Pierce came out next. He was beyond kind, signed and took pictures for everyone who wanted it. He also defended the Golden's security team when the patrons started to bad mouth them.
Kristine Nielsen was next. I happened to see Ms. Nielsen enter the theatre and she looked miserable so I was expecting her to be the same at the SD. I couldn't have been more wrong. She signed and took pictures with everyone. She was very personable. I witnessed her talk with a fan about their mutual love for Maggie Smith. If you've seen the show, you know why they discussed this.
Sigourney was the last to come out, but it was within twenty minutes. SO. SWEET. She signed and took pictures, even tho her bodyguard told everyone she wouldn't be taking pictures, as she took pictures.
Everyone was BEYOND kind and lovely, except Shalita, who stopped early, but I don't know the details. Her performance was amazing and that's all that matters.
I RECOMMEND THIS SHOW FOR EVERYONE! (above the age of 12 ;vD)

What did he say?

There was a woman who kept pushing the line forward and shoving her playbill in the actors' faces. One of the gentlemen working security kept asking her to stay back and she was being rude. DHP stepped forward and said, "Hey, I trust this man with my life. He is just doing his job and trying to keep everyone safe. There are a lot of you, but if you're just patient, we'll get to everyone. I promise. Do me a favor and don't give him any problems." xM
