Vivian Beaumont Theater- Loge
Vivian Beaumont Theater- Loge#1

I'll be in town in about three weeks for an extended trip to finalize things before finally moving to NYC full time in September.
I am already seeing a ton of shows, but today went to buy tickets for SOUTH PACIFIC (which I admittedly should have done ages ago).
As was expected, the whole run is virtually sold out. I was able to find one matinee during my trip with seats in the left center section of the loge, Row D.
I have heard varying opinions of both extremes about the loge at The Beaumont. Anyone care to chime in here with their thoughts?

I had similar seats for The Light in the Piazza the first time that I saw it and they are fine. I had no trouble seeing facial expressions, and didn't miss any dialogue. If it's the best you can do, go for it, but I might suggest waiting until closer to the date on which you plan to attend and try for cancellations.

Posted: 3/2/08 at 1:48pmI sat in that exact row for all three parts of The Coast of Utopia and thought the seats were just fine. Given the large size of the Beaumont's stage being a bit further back isn't as bad as it might seem in other theaters.

The loge is perfectly fine. That's where I always sit to get "the whole picture"
While the Vivian Beaumont is an expansive theatre by width, it's actually not very deep. The stage is enormous and gives the illusion that the seating is too... but remember it's a thrust stage with a horse-shoe audience.
The orchestra is only 13 rows deep. The loge is only 6 rows deep. It just wraps around, so you of course want to be as close to center as possible.

Posted: 3/2/08 at 11:52pmI tried for tickets this afternoon for a weekend performance. Left and right sections of loge were the best I could get - in May!

I was able to get back row of the loge dead center today for midweek in late March, but other than that, even for previews, there's very little left, even on the far sides.
I wonder how long it will be until they announce at least some sort of extension.
re: Vivian Beaumont Theater- Loge#8
Posted: 3/3/08 at 1:00amI'll be in the first row of the loge all the way on the left. How is that?

I don't know how the extreme left in the loge is, but I do enjoy to loge almost more than the orchestra at the Beaumont. Particularly for UTOPIA, it gave me a terrific view.
somethingwicked: I did get your PM about this, but couldn't respond because you don't accept PMs. Your seats will be fine. If it's all they have, it's all they have. Get them.

ski2904, the run is open ended. They're currently selling single seats through June 22nd and group tickets through December 21st. A new block of tickets through the summer should be released around the opening.
munk, I just edited my profile. Somehow, the "not accept PMs" setting got turned on by itself. Sorry about that, and thanks for the help!

Posted: 3/3/08 at 2:56pmI would take all of this loge info with a grain of salt. In another thread on here regarding the same subject, a few people were saying just the opposite - complaining about how far back this loge section is. Which just goes to show you...opinions are like, um....well, like something else that every has one of.

Posted: 10/28/13 at 7:04pmWhat do you think is better for Macbeth: 2nd row loge (center, on the aisle) or 5th row orchestra (in the middle of the leftmost section)? Both sound pretty decent.
re: Vivian Beaumont Theater- Loge#13
Posted: 10/28/13 at 7:23pmI'd go with the front loge -- but its hard to go wrong at the Beaumont.

By far, take the 5th row orchestra. The "loge" should really be called an "upper upper balcony". I felt so far up in the loge that I would have been better off watching the performance in the lobby from a TV monitor.

Posted: 10/28/13 at 7:44pmI sat in roughly those left Orchestra seats for War Horse and they were great. Perfectly good view of the stage. Can't speak to the Loge seats but they do seem kind of far back.
re: Vivian Beaumont Theater- Loge#16
Posted: 10/28/13 at 8:18pmI've never felt far away from the stage -- and I've sat almost all the way to the back of the loge.
re: Vivian Beaumont Theater- Loge#17
Posted: 10/28/13 at 8:52pmThe Vivian Beaumont is one of my favorite theaters. I do agree you probably can't go wrong wherever you sit.
re: Vivian Beaumont Theater- Loge#18
Posted: 10/28/13 at 10:38pmThe Beaumont may have zero ambiance, but there is not a bad seat in that house. Definitely one of my favorites, too.
re: Vivian Beaumont Theater- Loge#19
Posted: 10/29/13 at 11:53amI would suggest sitting closer for MACBETH because the sound isn't the best and it's hard to hear a lot of the actors that aren't mic'ed.
