Okay, but he's no Walter Cronkite.
HOT.
The hottest news anchor on television and we only get to hear his voice...Still, YAY!
Maybe he'll use his Broadway debut an opportunity to come out.

Jordan, I was just going to say that. Touche.
They've been hinting on their Facebook that it was a newscaster but Anderson Cooper was not my guess. I thought it was going to be Tom Brokaw. Walter Cronkite had one of those voices where when you heard it you knew immediately. And Brokaw has one of those voices. I don't find Cooper's voice to be that distinguishable.
I was debating with a friend at work just this very subject. Which well known modern day voices will they get to narrate this revival. And, believe it or not Cooper was on her list.

I am unfamiliar with this show. Will Anderson pre-record all his lines? Or will he be at every show?
"Okay, but he's no Walter Cronkite."
Exactly what I was thinking.
Cooper would have been on my list too, but there's just this something about Cronkite's voice which is trusting and reassuring. Like he was a news broker that you could trust for the truth and not just ratings like most do today.
Brokaw would have been my first pick, but I'm sure Cooper will suit the work just fine.
Wicked- Yes, it's just a recording. My husband must host his 360 show every evening live.

...joining such legendary recorded performances as Judi Dench as the Giant in the Into the Woods revival, John Cleese as God in Smamalot, and Alan Alda as God in the Apple Tree revival.
I was hoping it would be Stephen Colbert.
Let's not forget Mel Brooks as "Nazi Mel/The Cat" in The Producers.
I win!
I called it!
:P
Is the prize a date with Anderson?

Anderson Cooper?
God I hope so!
"I was hoping it would be Stephen Colbert."
I was thinking that, too. Colbert has such a nice, authoritative voice.
That settles it, this is now the show I am most excited for in the spring.
He should also narrate Book of Mormon!!!

Like others have said, he's a fine choice and I can't imagine he won't be perfectly adequate, but I can't help but feel there were more distinctive choices. Cronkite's voice was instantly recognizable from the very first narration. I can't say that I feel the same about Cooper's voice.
Every time I hear his voice, I think of The Mole. Does anyone else remember that show?

Edna- I love that show. He only hosted the last season, but I do love that man and that show.
