saw this last night when I watched my tape of The View.
It was so weird, but he has a voice.
He seemed to be more spoofing than being serious.
But he has a nice voice, if he wasnt trying so hard

First of all, that doesn't even make sense. He IS singing in a very pronounced falsetto. Second of all, men don't HAVE a mix. I have studied vocal pedagogy for the better half of a decade and have sung for longer.

Yup. Which is what I wrote in my original post.
The difference is, though it *sounds* chesty, there is no chest, so is not a mix. A falsetto becomes very developed when you can resonate it in your nose. You have to find the sweet spot and then it sounds incredible.

Posted: 2/28/07 at 2:48pmHow many thousands of little gay boys have sung that song behind closed doors? Von Smith is just living out every show princess's fantasy. I thought he was great fun.

I don't think I liked it. HE himself may not be a freak, but that rendition was freaky. I was too busy staring in disbelief to even judge the talent. It seemed like he was auditioning for whatever may be up for casting-he was all over the place with his voice and his histrionics. I

Just watched it.
What the f*ck?
I mean, I guess he's good, but I genuinelly didn't know if he was being serious or joking. It just got awkward toward the end.

Posted: 3/8/07 at 12:28amHmmmm...this thread makes me wonder.....do we "show people" who now watch the view for the Broadway stuff have any effect on the ratings? I mean even a blip when they announce that shows will be performing...Probably not....there aren't enough of us. :)
