Christopher Fitzgerald was involved in the initial reading of this so it's not too surprising that he came back to it. Glad to see Keala Settle is staying on, she was great at ART.

What happened to Jeanna de Waal??
Posted: 11/4/15 at 11:36am
I feel bad for Jeanna. This is the second straight year where a show she originated out of town is coming to New York without her.

^And both shows were at A.R.T. directed by Diane Paulus.

Well, I just saw on twitter that Jeanna returned to Kinky Boots a few weeks ago, which is great for her, as she still has a job!

Maybe she wanted to go back to Kinky Boots.

Jeanna did not choose to leave FINDING NEVERLAND -- she was replaced. I imagine the same thing happened here.

Yes Neon that's a good point. I actually was hoping that redevelopments in Ogie character would take him from two songs to one because while Jeremy was great, I personally felt it was too much. However with Christopher Fitzgerald taking on the role it seems less likely that it's been reduced.

Jeanna was great! So was the actor that played Ogie in Boston! Sad to see they aren't transferring.

^Jeremy Morse is staying, just in the ensemble.

With the three ensemble members announced so far it looks like they have kept a few understudy tracks intact. Stephanie Torns was Jenna/Jessie Mueller's understudy, Charity Angel Dawson went on for Becky/Keala Settle a few times and I'm sure Jeremy Morse will understudy Ogie.

Jeanna de Waal's performance was one of the highlights of the A.R.T. production. It's very disappointing that she won't be moving on to Broadway.

I'm disappointed that Jeanna won't be transferring as I really liked her when I saw her in Kinky Boots. This is a really strong cast though and I'm excited that I already have my ticket for the week after opening.

On the other hand, isn't it nice to have an Asian American actor cast in a role where the character is not specifically Asian?

I was hoping that too -- but even more than that, I was hoping, and am still hoping, that the Ogie and Dawn romance arc doesn't have the stalker element anymore.

it looks like Diane is going for a gilmore girls type thing where the friends are asian or fat
Posted: 11/4/15 at 3:02pm
... what the hell? Is this Philly again?
Posted: 11/4/15 at 3:03pm
yea have u ever seen gilmore girls?

Yes. Yes, please to this.

I'm surprised to read people characterize Ogie as a "stalker". Yes, he awkwardly shows up at the diner to pursue Dawn after their first date. But her misgivings fall very quickly during his song and they quickly bond over one of their common interests. And it's clear that they are both misfits who are made for each other. If you want crueler treatment in onstage male-female relations, just think of She Loves Me and the horrible story Georg tells Amalia at the restaurant when she's waiting for "Dear Friend".
