I imagine Rylance will win, but it'd be nice to see a surprise win for Mantello.
So excited about Benanti! Otherwise, the results are more or less predictable, though it was nice to see the tie between Nina Arianda and Frances McDormand!

Lots of happy news here. Congratulations all! If I have any disappointment it's perhaps that WAR HORSE seems to be carrying most/all of the Play awards. It's my understanding that the Production is the amazing thing, not the play itself. I'd rather see one of the other plays win the Tony, but I realzie it's highly doubtful.

As for Tony Sheldon... I've always thought his biggest handicap is the fact that Douglas Hodge won last year for a similar role. Had that not happened, I think Sheldon would have a better chance of taking the Tony.

You're absolutely right. And the sad thing about it is that Sheldon is 10 x better than Hodge, not to mention a 100 x better than Gad, who really should be in the supporting category.

Ick for Josh Gad. Sheldon really deserves to win.

Upset that Rylance beat Mantello, but it's not surprising.

Overall, these are probably the closest the OCC Awards will be to the actual Tony Award winners in years. Typically, their choices are bizarre. Remember when Shrek was the big winner at the Outer Critics Circle awards?

I agree completely with Kad. I'm hoping the tie will happen again at the Tonys. No doubt that McDormand deserves a Tony for her performance (and will likely be the sole winner), but Nina Arianda will always be remembered for sucessfully playing Billie Dawn in 21st century (no easy feat), and out from under the shadows of the divine Judy Holliday. It is a star-making performance, and I hope will be recognized as such. Theater folks agree that Ms. Arianda is a very gifted actress who will give many excellent performances in her future, but this Tony could seal her fate as a bonafide Broadway star -- otherwise she could be seen mostly OB for awhile.

Ljay, I'm so with you! I really hope Benanti just sweeps all of them. It'd be so great to see her take a second Tony so early in her career for what a lot of people think was the best comedic performance in a musical this season. I'm as excited for her winning as I was the year Karen Olivo was up for it and people kept saying Haydn Gwynne would get it.
