I know there's a lot of Wicked threads but I didn't find any with actual casting suggestions. So I decided we could use this one
Elphaba - Samantha Barks. She has an amazing range, just look at all the characters she played on stage: Eponine, Velma Kelly, Sally Bowles, Nancy plus she received great reviews for the film adaptation of Les Miz. The perfect opportunity for a star-making performance.
Glinda - Kristen Bell is perfect, but she's already 34, she'd be pushing 40 by the time this got made. The same for Megan Hilty. Amanda Seyfried's soprano voice is really thin so that's a no too. Emmy Rossum? Not sure she can pull of the comedy. It's a role that requires a lot of versatility and range, so why not an unknown broadway actress? Annaleigh Ashford? Already pushing 30... Laura Osnes? Katie Hall? She's age appropriate, but didn't impress me in Les Miz. It really is the most difficult role to cast, I think
Fiyero - Just pick one of those Broadway actors from that generation that managed to crossover to TV: Jonathan Groff, Aaron Tveit, Jeremy Jordan, Andrew Rannells...
The Wizard - Tony Award winner Denis O'Hare. No need to explain.
Madame Morrible - This role has three times Tony Award winner Glenn Close written all over it!
Boq - Short, well-known and with Broadway experience? There's only one name: Daniel Radcliffe.
Doctor Dillamond - Two times Tony Award winner John Lithgow. Again, no need to explaine.
Nessarose - Just call any Broadway actress with a semi-recognizable name who'd be thrilled to be in a big Hollywood production. Cristin Milioti?
Elphaba's parents and the midwife, in "No One Mourns the Wicked" - Idina Menzel, Norbet Leo Butz and Kristin Chenoweth (this is totally do-able and I just hope the actual producers consider it!)
So, what do you guys think?
