Did anyone see the first preview of WIT tonight? Thoughts?

Shame no one went seems to have gone last night. I'll report in tomorrow night.

Saw the show tonight from the front mezz. Here are my observations/thoughts:
Pretty full house
Run time 1:45 with no intermission
Simple set with rotating wall
No mics
Great transition music - reminded me of soundtrack to Rabbit Hole movie
Cynthia Nixon ... A tony nod in the making - I'm sure a lot of you know the show - I didn't - she was hauntingly beautiful - her sense of timing, pace, pitch, asides felt right on - there were moments were she was alone on stage in complete silence for 20/30 seconds - gripping
Not being from the City, I was glad I happened to have a layover so I could see this -
Some beautiful moments -

Her name is Cynthia NIXON. Thank you very much.
The 30 Under 30 tickets are going fast...I should jump on this ASAP
I saw the show last night. It's exactly what I expected...a revival that basically hinders on how good (or bad) Nixon is (this is practically a one-woman show, for those who don't know much about it). And she's good. In fact, she's very good. And there are glimmers of brilliance in her performance. But she seemed, to me at least, to be overacting during certain sections. Granted, it was only the second preview and she will get stronger as time goes on. I can only imagine how great she'll be once opening night comes around.
I was there tonight and thought Nixon was pretty fantastic. The play is so smart and funny; very well structured and it just flies by.
Nixon has the humor down and scored many big laughs. The dramatic scenes were very good, and like Wickedrocks said will only continue to get stronger during previews.
I was pretty crabby this evening and didn't really want to be going to the theater. All this melted away as soon Nixon stepped on stage and started speaking to the audience. In the end this was just what I needed. Highly recommended.
LOL. You make it sound like the feel-good comedy you needed tonight!
WIT does have a lot of great unexpected humor. I've always felt that the humor made the end all the more devastating. I can't wait to see this production.
Oh, absolutely. But in the end, it's one depressing ass play.
Totally.
*spoiler*
The Velveteen Bunny scene kills me every time.
Ha, well yes it was the "Young Adult" comedy I needed tonight. She's not quite the anti-hero Theron plays, but verges on it. The humor does take you by surprise, especially given the marquee and subject matter.
The humor is what makes the drama devastating and keeps it from being a Lifetime melodrama.
Slight spoiler
She hides behind her own Wit, just like Donne, and when we realize her defense shield is starting to crumble it all comes to together and the tragedy is doubly strong.
*****SPOILER*****
Does Nixon do the full Monty at the end?
SPOILER (did realize it was a spoiler!)
Yes she is completely naked.
Just how large of a role does Zachary Spicer have or should I wait and see if he is working security for the Shakespeare in the Park line again this summer instead?
Scripps- that was hilarious and I knew I had seen that guy before!! He has a very small role. I would venture to guess if you bought a ticket to see him you would be sorely disappointed.
Cynthia Nixon is a terrific actress, and WIT seems the perfect play for her talents. Can't wait to see her.

How is the front mezz for this show? Is there a railing or anything else that would bother a short person?

Alright... how sad is this play live? Just from reading the synopsis, I teared up, which leads me to believe that I might embarrass myself in the theatre...
I was in the second row and there was nothing blocking my view. The people in the first row didn't seem to be bothered by the bar as they spent the performance sitting back comfortably.

Having seen it on Friday evening, I would recommend being main floor midway back - I felt a little out of it in front mezz - IMHO -
but still loved it -

Also saw the show Saturday evening. I LOVED it. Cynthia was amazing. I was a little concerned when it started that she reminded me a little of Miranda in Sex and the City, but that quickly went away. This is truly the perfect show for her. I really hope she gets at least a Tony nomination.
I would recommend for anyone going to try to get a seat a little closer to the stage. I was in the 3rd row of the mezzanine and felt that I was too far away. This is such an intimate show and being a little closer would be great.
