Too bad.
I was hoping to see it in January and then come back again in the spring, but it isnt so.
Im assuming this means no cast recording? Another thing I was REALLY hoping for, unless Sherie decides she actually likes the show enough to record it and release it while it isnt even running.
Playbill article
Jesus. It's not that Sherie doesn't want to record it. I've been told first hand by her husband that it's a financial issue.

I've seen the show 3 times now and I love it. It's a real shame.
Not like its Sherie's decision.

SPOILERS?
I saw the show tonight. Laura was out - boo. But I loved it. I would go back in a heart beat. It's a hot mess for sure, but it's an enjoyable mess.
I think there are a lot of problems. The show starts and ends each act a little awkwardly. The opening was a pretty awful song, and I couldn't even begin to try and sing the melody to you. It was weird having a stagehand come out and help move that big mirror wall. Actually, the use of stage hands to move props and set pieces were really weird. I don't like that.
The book is a mess. I didn't get a sense of Sherrie's character pregnancy at all until those last like 5 mins. Also, is this all suppose to be the same day? Like start to finish it's one day? Cause I def. was confused by that. Also, that Valium dream sequence just was not needed and didn't really end well.
I liked the music. I thought a lot of the songs were nice, and the lyrics pretty witty. I really liked Laura and Patti's big numbers. And I thought Sherie's various ballads were pretty. "Lie to Me" sounded like something out of "Dirty" but I liked it.
The design was busy, but I didn't mind it.
The direction was great, but I just found parts of the story confusing, and with all the projections and stuff, I just kept getting distracted.

I'm not trying to be rude. But the pregnancy is hinted during the scene in the doctor's office in act 1. Pepa says something like "I know what you're thinking. I'm 42, it can't be."
And act 1 literally ends with the doctor telling Pepa "You shouldn't be doing that in your condition. You're pregnant!"
What is this mirror everyone talks about? I saw it in the video clips and every article I have read about the show's design talks about the mirror in the opening scene. How does this work exactly?
RippedMan, that's exactly how I felt about the show: a hot mess, but an enjoyable one. Sure, the book is all over the place, but whatever, I had a good time.
But I'm not surprised this isn't extending. People are just not flocking to it. Bad word of mouth? I know the people around me were complaining and saying they were confused. Maybe I understood it just fine because I'm familiar with the original movie? I don't know. I'm just sad there are no plans for a recording. This is Simon Hale's first sole credit as orchestrator (he arranged the beautiful strings in Spring Awakening) and I think the score, however messy it is, sounds great thanks to the wonderful orchestra[tions] and talented cast.

The show opens with Pepa (asleep) rotating on her bed in front of a large mirror. It looks pretty cool. But they only use this huge mirror for like 2 minutes, lol.

I definitely thought they would have used it for something else in the show. Alas, no.
But it was badly design if it needed the help of a stage hand to move it.. that sort of ruined the desired effect....
ljay889 - maybe I worded it weird, but I understood she was preggers. I mean, you're right, he does say it, but I was talking about in Act II. The big bombed is dropped right as intermission is going on - with some mess of a song with bungee cords? - but in Act II no one really mentions it, and she doesn't really talk about it, or anything. There's no sense that that information changed her in anyway.
with some mess of a song with bungee cords?
Haha, that's like my favorite song and moment in the show.
*spoilers*
Back to the pregnancy. In act 2, Carlos finds the letter from the doctor which I assume states that she's pregnant. Candela assumes she's "getting work done" - so Pepa just goes along with it. Then Pepa sings "Mothers Day." The lyrics state "Will she hear it? Will she hear the song? Can I sing it? Can I sing it for her?" I take it to mean, will she sing the same song for her child as her mother sang for her? But that's just my interpretation of the lyrics.
Pepa's main motivation for trying to contact Ivan throughout act 2 is as she says "We need to decide." Once she actually comes face to face to him, she realizes she doesn't need him to make the decision, as she's already made it. And I think it's such a beautiful moment at the end when she announces "I want her to see this view" and when Marisa asks who, she says "I'm going to have a baby." Sherie is landing that moment so beautifully and full of emotion now.
I really don't think the show is as MESSY as people are saying. Yes, I understand since the word of mouth and reviews are so poor that people feel like they must say "it's a mess!" - even if they like it. Oh well, lol. There are certainly some issues, but I think there is some great material there, mainly Yazbek's score.

RM, how were Jennifer Sanchez and whoever was on for Guarini?
Eh, i sat through it. I can say it's a mess.
And sure, maybe all of those things happened in Act II, but I have no recollection of any of it. There is just SO much going on, and sure it might have worked for the movie, but for a musical, I don't know. Like the whole motorcycle couple? I didn't really get that. I also had about 3 swings/understudies on, and so that might have added to my confusion because a lot of the line deliveries were dull, and I sort of would stop paying attention and watch the projections.
I def. want to see the show again when Laura is back in.
