Really enjoying "She Used to Be Mine". I don't know anything else about the show or score, but between this song, and the scores of Bright Star, American Psycho and Hamilton (at the very least), this season seems to have been a pretty strong one for new music! I love that all of these scores are also sound so different from each other.

I didn't see it posted anywhere on these boards yet, but the first 100 people to buy tickets at the box office on Tuesday get an advance physical copy of the cast recording with purchase!

Amazon lists the CD as available July 1. Is there usually a month between? (I'm impatient! But will wait.)

I've noticed that usually it is about a month gap from digital to physical releases for cast recordings.

If you're looking for the digital option for Waitress on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G6LU6G4?ie=UTF8&keywords=waitress&qid=1464446225&ref_=sr_1_1&refinements=p_n_date%3A1249098011&s=dmusic&sr=1-1-mp3-albums-bar-strip-0
Same deal as iTunes - you get "She Used To Be Mine" and then the rest later this week when the album drops.

I'm not sure whether it's supposed to be sung this way, but at 3:20 Jessie's voice is a little shaky and unnatural when she belts "she used to be MIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE." It is really strange because I saw the show three times and just rewatched the clip from rehearsal, and Jessie always nailed this part perfectly.

She sounds good but she sounds more throaty and country on this recording.
I love her though.

I don't notice anything off about the "mine" at the 3:20 mark but I think this sounds a bit different from the way it does in performance. She sounds great and I think they did go for a more country feel - she sort of stayed in the character's accent but didn't have to do a stage cry while singing it so it sounds purer. It's a beautiful recording and it's different from Sara's but equally powerful.
I can't wait to hear What Baking Can Do. I might be in the minority but I was so glad Bareilles morphed Door Number 3 into this. I liked that song but What Baking does so much more to set up the storyline and gives Jenna a better "i want" song. It's also a real powerhouse song for Jessie.

I have had the Sara Bareillis EP with songs from the show, as well as the single track from the OBCR, on repeat since I saw the show a week ago. Can't wait for the full album!!!

I'm most excited for "What Baking Can" do as well. I was really bummed when I heard "Door Number Three" was cut but having heard both I know why.
"Door Number Three" is a Sara Bareilles pop song but "What Baking Can" is a musical theatre song written for the character of Jenna.
Also excited for Kimiko Glenn's "When He Sees Me."

It's now available in digital form! What Baking Can Do is infinite times better than Door Number Three!

It's also on Spotify. It's really beautiful. What an odd score. I can't seem to find anything to compare it to.

I disagree because I couldn't understand most of what she was saying. I found the sound on the recording to be pretty muddled, was it possibly my iTunes / equalizer preferences?

I didn't find it indistinguishable at all but I will say the mix does sound a little weird. Not a baaaad mix but not the norm.
Either was it's a really great recording of an interesting new score. If the-show-that-must-not-be-named wasn't around it would be a really interesting race for best score. I hope Bareilles continues writing for the theatre, I love this score but in it is fairly "basic" and by the books structurally. The material it is attached to isn't the finest either but that is true of other great scores like LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA and is another issue altogether.

While Bad Idea and Bad Idea(reprise) are my favorites in the show they are my least favorites on this. I guess because both songs are super funny and you don't get that from this.
What Baking Can Do and You Matter To Me are the closest to what's in the show.

I'm listening to "Preview All" in Apple right now on continual play
. I will probably buy on Amazon once the CD becomes available so I can get both the disc and the digital.
The album is already #14 on Apple!! Pretty cool.
It sounds terrific, and it's interesting to hear the different takes of the songs after listening to Sara's CD over and over again. Jessie has such a different voice compared to other Broadway belters - I like it, and it really does fit this role well. It will be interesting to see what the producers do when Jessie decides to leave. Will they go for a more traditional type ala Laura Osnes, or something a little quirkier.
I agree with other posters that "What Baking Can Do" seems to fit the story well, despite Door Number Three being a great song in it's own right. Not crazy about It Only Takes a Taste, Take it From an Old Man and I Love You Like a Table (from the sample)... but perhaps they work better on stage.
