I got a little obsessed with the opening number (after she sings Sugar, Spatula) OPENING UP.

FindingNamo, your kind of negative. Its fine to not like something or be somewhat critical, but your not saying anything helpful, just kind of rude. Im certainly not trying to pick a fight, i just am interested in people giving interesting opinions on the show.

I will concur that a lot of the music is infectiously catchy. Sara's always been good for that. I love "Opening Up," "Bad Idea," and "Door Number Three."
In accordance with what others are saying about the higher key of "She Used to Be Mine," I have a similar concern. I've gotten so used to hearing Sara sing these numbers, I wonder if they'll sound odd to me when I hear the actors do them in the show! Hah...

thats just Namo, snarky remarks, little to add to a conversation and spends far too much time on here on so many threads doing the same thing. Me thinks he's limited in the friends or satisfaction department.

I don't hate it. It's not for me. I said I wasn't even going to post in this thread again. But I couldn't stop myself when I realized they missed the multiple homonymic meanings of "beater".
I think Waitress is a terrific transition-to-adulthood musical for the first two generations of little girls who were entranced by theater for the first time when their nana brought them to Wicked. It's got EVERYTHING for them. Waitress also begins with the letter "W." And it has the moral ambiguity Wicked should have had but was too chicken to deliver, even though it was all right there in the source material. I would market it as "The first post-puberty musical for the little girls who loved Wicked." And the women who love Lifetime Movie Network.

I really enjoyed this rehearsal footage. Jessie M is mesmerising and deeply moving singing "She Used To Be Mine" although I can see that the higher pitch may not sit well on everybody.
I also think the three ladies work like a dream together. What a gorgeous trio.
So looking forward to seeing this.

A question for anyone who saw the Boston production or who is clued in to the imminent Broadway staging: What, please, is the approximate running time of the show? A friend who has a fairly long commute home is trying to decide between a matinee and evening performance. Thanks.

Run time at A.R.T. was two and a half hours with one intermission.

"You must be pretty dense if you don't get it's a show and not a commercial for pie filling/crust." <<<<<<
Mailhandler, too bad you didn't read or were apparently too dense to comprehend what I wrote. Yes, >> I << knew it was about a Broadway musical, because I happen to have known there is a new musical called Waitress and I recognized Jessie Mueller -- as I'm sure YOU did. But I doubt that you and I are the audience that ad is trying to attract. My point was that there is NOTHING in the ad until the very end that tells a person who is not a regular Broadway goer that this is a Broadway show and not simply a happy homemaker baking a pie. And there is nothing about the ad (in my opinion) that would make someone say "wow, that looks like a fantastic show, I'd better grab a ticket". Do you get that yet? Or are YOU really that dense (to use your word)?

So does anyone have a guess if Waitress will be rush or lottery?

This is an interesting point. I wonder if this will be off-putting to the very demographic they were trying to engage through the concept recording, Sara's fans.
