Waitress tickets now?

I bought tickets to see Waitress in October during our girls' trip to NYC (Definitely an outsider and not savvy in the ways of the theater world!)

I was just reprimanded by a friend who said I should have waited for the preview or opening.

Now I am definitely suffering from buyer's remorse but can't get a refund unless the play closes early.

Does anyone else have a good feeling about Waitress and purchased early? Can you make me feel better?

You'll be fine. I saw the show at ART and if there's one thing I can say for sure, it's absolutely the perfect new thing for a girls' trip to New York City.

So take a deep breath and whatever it is the kids say today, chillrelax?

Sounds like your friend needs to calm down. Having a friend who lines up good seats in advance for buzzy shows should be a good thing.

sorry to confuse you. What I meant to say was that I was told I should have waited until reviews come out after previews or the opening.

Your friend is foolish. I'm not saying this will be a mega hit, but it's a sweet show. There's no reason to wait, if you have the interest.

If people always waited until the reviews came out, there wouldn't he much of an audience.

Methinks your friend was trying to show you up somehow. Don't suffer buyers remorse, you'll enjoy the show more with a good attitude. (And it's lovely)

You'll have fun at this, especially if you like Sara Barelles. She released her singing some of the songs from the show. Tell your friend to check it out. They all sound so great.

Saw it at the A.R.T. Great show. Should be good when it transfers too!

I also bought full-priced tickets ahead of time for May, don't feel badly ! I saw Jessie Mueller in Beautiful and she was great, and I read all the reviews from the show when it was at A.R.T. and have listened to Sara Bareilles' songs on the Waitress album and I watched the movie the other day....so I am set. I was worried that it would be sold out and I really want to see this new musical and Jessie Mueller again, so I just bought it! I know it's a risk, and usually I wait for reviews, too, but not this time. I also bought a ticket for She Loves Me for May! It's so great to have these shows to look forward to! "

I also have tickets for May. I'm not sweating it. Pretty sure I'm going to at least like it and have a good time. :)

I don't understand why you are so concerned about this?? You bought tickets for a show that you think you will like, that sold out with good reviews out of town and that stars a Tony winner. What is the regret issue? Are you afraid that it will get bad reviews and you don't want to see a show just because it got bad reviews and you already paid for tickets?

Lots of theatre goers love shows that the reviewers didn't like. A bad review isn't going to change the subject matter, the composer or the stars - which I presume are all reasons that drove you to buy tickets.

I have a ticket for first preview. I also saw it 3 times at ART. It's a great show and seeing Jessie is worth the price alone. Your friend needs to relax.

Tell your friend to take a seat. The show was very well received out of town. I saw the first preview at the A.R.T. and absolutely loved it. You will be fine.

I also saw the show in Boston and it was wonderful. Very moving, I think for women in particular it will strike a chord. You've also got fans of the movie, and Sara Bareilles (not to mention some Orange Is The New Black fans that will go for Kimiko), plus it seems to be the most anticipated show coming this season and with Hamilton being impossible to go to, I think a lot of people are going to run to this as their next-best-thing.

It won't do as well as Hamilton or get that hype but I think it will get a really positive response and run for a while - definitely until October. I saw it and found myself in tears numerous times simply because it spoke to me so much, so unexpectedly. After seeing it, it stuck with me for weeks, my mind kept wandering back to it. I think with it having that potential effect on others, it's going to be successful.
