This is my favorite musical of all time, I really enjoyed the video, and absolutely this show was ahead of its time. If this opened in the past few years, it would have been really successful.
And LOLZ regarding the protesters not knowing what the hell they are protesting over because they never bothered to actually watch the show!

I loved it, too, but given the subject matter and the bleakness of the show, I don't think it was ever destined to be "really successful," unfortunately. I do wish it would pick up steam at regional theaters, once they return. With a subscription base to rely on, I think it could work well (again, once audiences are ready for a challenge again -- I suppose it'll mostly be light fare in the early days of the return, whenever that may be).
Truly one of my favorites. Such an emotional and moving show. An important show. I wish it could have had a longer run. An amazing cast led by the always exceptional Joshua Henry!
