Is there buzz for anything? I remember hearing about how TGC and DEH were sure things very early. Any rumors of Groundhog coming over. Is there anything coming with similar hype?
The 2018 Tonys opens with a deep apology to the truly justified entitled audience for 2017's by publicly torturing and executing Scott Rudin on stage, followed by forcing Bette Midler out to perform in chains.
I did a search of images for the set, but I believe that the only pics are from the Disney cruise line edition of the show or from artists renderings. If you have a link that is specifically for the Broadway production please share with us.

I saw a video of the opening number a while ago and the music/the cartoon voices that the performers were being forced to sing in made me want to bang my head against my desk repeatedly. But I still have to give props to the set/prop design. Very cool.
On the grander scope of things...
I'm still hoping for a Hadestown transfer this season. If it does it'll win Best Score no question, Rachel Chavkin will get nom'd for Direction (possibly even win, if only as an apology for her being robbed this year), Amber Gray and Patrick Page will both get nom'd, and it might give The Band's Visit a run for Best Musical, if the revisions they supposedly made to the show are good enough.
But as for shows that are actually confirmed:
I don't think Frozen will win Best Costumes solely because the little snippets that we could see from that video of the show looked like exact copies of the ones from the movie. Maybe Once on This Island will get it? Speaking of, Michael Arden will probably get a nom for Direction (and hopefully they'll actually show his face this time) and it'll probably get Set Design too.
Well now that we've gotten a small amount of light on what this season looks like, here are a few of my new predictions.
BEST MUSICAL: Escape to Margaritaville Frozen Mean Girls The Band's Visit (WINNER)
BEST REVIVAL OF A MUSICAL: Carousel (WINNER) My Fair Lady Once On This Island
(If there is a 4th nominee, it would be Dreamgirls)
BEST LEADING ACTOR IN A MUSICAL: Joshua Henry, Carousel (WINNER) Paul Alexander Nolan, Escape to Margaritaville Tony Shalhoub, The Band's Visit Ethan Slater, The Spongebob Squarepants Musical [insert person who plays Henry Higgins here], My Fair Lady
BEST LEADING ACTRESS IN A MUSICAL: Hailey Kilgore, Once On This Island (WINNER) Caissie Levy, Frozen Taylor Louderman, Mean Girls Jessie Mueller, Carousel [insert person who plays Eliza here], My Fair Lady
BEST PLAY: Farinelli and the King Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (WINNER) Meteor Shower The Minutes
BEST REVIVAL OF A PLAY: Children of a Lesser God Lobby Hero Three Tall Women (WINNER) Travesties

While I would expect The Band's Visit to sweep all of the New Musical awards (except maybe Best Book, but I don't feel like typing out my argument for that right now), I expect the revivals to really win out in the acting categories. I think it'll be hard for anyone to beat Renee Fleming for that featured actress role as of now, and it's very likely that either Joshua Henry or whoever is cast as Henry Higgins will beat Tony Shalhoub. Also it's very likely that Jessie Mueller, Hailey Kilgore, (potentially) Amber Riley, and whoever is cast as Eliza will all be in a category together, thereby swiping any chance Katrina Lenk has at that award. Now featured actor? No clue. John Cariani could somehow be a Tony winner in that category. We'll just have to see how that all shakes out in the spring. You never know with Featured. Weird things can happen (Looking at you, Michael Aronov).
It's a pretty rough year for new musicals - especially when you have to include ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE or SPONGEBOB on your prediction list of 4 musicals.

I think Taylor Louderman would likely be a featured actress for Mean Girls. Cady is the lead.

You could be right, but they've been doing some advertising that says things like, "Eva Peron. Mama Rose. Every great musical has one." That leads me to believe they're writing Regina as a lead role, but we'll have to see!
