Following the news of the “Other Desert Cities” revival yesterday, I was thinking about Judith Light and how it’s been over a decade since we’ve been privileged enough to see her onstage. Then I went to “Death of a Salesman” again last night and even though Metcalf gives the greatest performance in that role I know I will ever see, I wondered on my way home, how Light would have been in it. Anyways, all this to say she is one of the finest stage actresses of all time and maybe (just maybe) posting this can serve as a sort of “bat signal” for her to come back to a Broadway.

Please! And let it not be anything produced by MTC.

It looks like she hasn't appeared on stage since she did a production at Pasadena Playhouse in 2017. Considering how often she was doing theater in the early-mid 2010s and how ubiquitous she was at theater events at that time, I wonder if she's pulled back for a reason?

While comparatively young (77) to other performers on the boards right now, age is never not a factor in terms of stamina, but also in availability of roles. I’m pretty sure if they announced a revival of “Driving Miss Daisy” with Light in the starring role, the board would split between joy of seeing her on stage again and bemoaning the choice of title.
She’s HEAVILY involved in MCC Theatre, and seems very keen on supporting the production of new work and up-and-coming playwrights.
Funny Story: Two years ago, I actually ran into her at two different shows on the same day (MAYBE HAPPY ENDING and TAMMY FAYE) and she was absolutely lovely to talk to and I reminisced with her about the original ODC. She is so warm and classy - 10/10 recommend striking up a conversation with her if you have the chance.

I've been a fan of Judith Light since the late '70s when she played Karen Wolek on "One Life to Live". I was absolutely riveted to her performance giving testimony at Victoria Lord's (Erika Slezak) trial.
I also had a huge crush on Marco Dane (Gerald Anthony [Bucciarelli]). Those dark Italian features... swoon.
