Posted: 6/6/06 at 5:24pmOkay, so I have like fifteen dollars to my name at the moment and I want to buy a new musical soundtrack (I haven't gotten one in awhile). So I'm looking on iTunese and the two that are sticking out for me are The Wedding Singer and The Color Purple. Which one do you think I would be better off purchasing?

Posted: 6/6/06 at 5:28pmThe music to Wedding Singer is one of the show's highlights. The music in The Color Purple, a very good show, is not great in my opinion. It's the other stuff that makes Color Purple good. So, I would go with Wedding Singer.

Posted: 6/6/06 at 7:44pmWell, I'm definitely not buying Jersey Boys. Sorry, guys, just...not my type of show. Not big on the jukebox musicals. Anyway, I think it would be good to look at other recordings too but I don't think that iTunes has a very good selection of shows, unfortunately.

They're completely different. The Wedding Singer is obviously eighties. So the music is fun!
The Color Purple is more soulful. It's beautiful.
Personally, I'd go with TCP. But it's entirely up to you.

I have both -- I just bought Wedding Singer, and I've had Color Purple for a few months. I personally enjoy both, but I definitely would recommend Wedding Singer over TCP. Then again, they're completely different genres, so if you're into the more poppy 80's music, go for TWS. If you like old twentieth century black music, go with TCP.

Wedding Singer if you want songs to sing along to.
Color Purple if you want a moving story.

Posted: 6/6/06 at 11:50pmIt's hard to say, I bought Color Purple on a whim and I loved LaChanze's performance. She's great on the recording - as is the rest of the cast. I think it's a good CD and worth buying, but I know Wedding Singer's songs are all good, so I'd recommend that. But go to Amazon.com and check out some song clips and see which you like. Wedding Singer has clips on their website.

Wedding Singer if you want to have some serious fun.
Color Purple if you want some serious drama.
I'd go with Wedding Singer.
