Posted: 4/3/12 at 5:34pmWould love to hear from anybody who's done ONCE Rush on a weekday about what time you have to get there by to have a good shot at tickets. (Thinking of going tomorrow to buy tickets for the evening show - don't know if a two-performance day makes any difference.)

Rushed this morning for the matinee. My friends and I got there at about 7:00 and were 5, 6, and 7 in line. The line picked up steadily after that and was pretty much all the way to the Booth by 10:00. We were in rows H and I all the way to the side, which is technically partial view, but we really didn't miss anything. Most of the line seemed to be trying for the night show.
Beautiful show, by the way. Overwhelmed to the point of tears on a few occasions. First time I've ever found a show literally breathtaking.

Thought she was wonderful. Her harmonies with Steve Kazee were often drowned out, but audible, and thought she was a tad too giddy for someone who repeatedly makes reference to being a serious Czech. But she gave a lovely and affecting performance.
Another thing, the Wednesday matinee audience was teeeerrible. At least 4 phones went off and a full school group arrived 5 minutes late in the mezzanine (loudly, I might add). Steve Kazee gave the BC/EFA speech at the end of the show and he began to mention that his own mother is fighting a losing battle in the hospital right now against breast cancer. Just as he did, a woman's cell in the first row went off and he looked pissed and turned to her and said, "Would you like to get that?" Then he went off a bit on the others whose phones disturbed the performance as well as the latecomers. Really poorly behaved audience.

My friend made an observation about Goss's performance that made me reassess it a bit. She thought that maybe her lightheartedness made her "I'm always serious. I'm Czech." read as more of an ironic joke about the seriousness of Czech culture. In that case, I enjoyed her performance much more than I thought, whether that acting choice was intentional or not.
Still can't stop thinking about the show, by the way.

I just did the rush for today (Saturday/Easter weekend) and thought I'd post about it. We didn't know if Easter/Passover weekend would be a good or bad time to do rush, but we tried anyway. My boyfriend and I got there at 7:05 and were 17th and 18th in line. The first person got there at 6:00, the next group 6:45, then a couple at 7:00, and between 7:00 and 7:05 there was a big rush of people. There was a good mix of people wanting evening and afternoon tickets. Some were like us (a couple who only wanted one ticket each) and others were buying two tickets each. We got tickets to the matinee, but as we were leaving we thought we heard the box office guy say that the evening was sold out. We're guessing we were some of the last people to get tickets, and there were a TON of people behind us.
In any case, we are very excited to see the show this afternoon :)

Is there standing room at the Jacobs? Have they offered it? I haven't heard anything.
On an unrelated note, I'm so happy that both shows were sold out! That would be awesome if ONCE did really well. (It deserves it!)

Hi 6AM guy! :) I can't believe you got front row! What did you think of it?
I loved the show. We were in the box seats, which turned out to be pretty obstructed view. We couldn't see anything upstage center/upstage left and found ourselves leaning as far a we could. It was slightly annoying, but it didn't stop us from enjoying the show. I laughed, I cried - absolutely beautiful and definitely worth the wait. I'm so happy that with all of Broadway's flash and dazzle, a truly breathtaking and simple show like this can exist and even flourish. :)

Also, my boyfriend came up with a really good way to look at rush tickets -
We were kinda tired and debating on doing rush or just buying the $66 tickets in the back. Then he said, "Well if we get there at 7am and only pay $26, it's like we're getting paid $13 an hour to just sit there!"
:)

I know this has probably been discussed recently, but what's the current status of weekday rush?
Any info is appreciated.

#20Weekday ONCE Rush - what time do you have to get there in the morning?
Posted: 5/13/12 at 12:12amThey weren't as of last weekend. I actually asked the guy at the box office and he stared at me like I was talking another language and said he hadn't heard anything about it.
