I loved your review. More positives than negatives. From the clips on movies.com to this review, I AM MORE EXCITED THAN I HAVE EVER BEEN ABOUT THIS MOVIE! And....hoyl crap! Five days. I can remember when we were in the 190's!

Halloween and Goodbye Love are going to be on the DVD. Personally, I hope they include some of the other cuts, like when Benny says he'll pay for the funeral ("you just paid for the funeral of the person who killed your dog" [?]) and April in the bathtub, but I have no idea if they'll do that.

I didn't realize either of those scenes had been filmed, but I would assume that if they decide to include a deleted scene section that those would probably be in there.

Ooooh, Emcee, I didn't even THINK of those extra scenes. That'd be nice!
And yes, I suppose there are more positives than negatives. There are certainly some negatives. But what I mean to say is that the negatives and the positives kind of fuse together to make a better completed project...?
Damn, it's so hard to explain.

I think I get what you're saying.
Part of the essence of the stage show is the rawness and imperfection of it all. It's an unpolished, unfinished product. I think that if the movie were too polished and perfect that it just wouldn't feel like RENT anymore.

Exactly. Like in parts that are *very* cinematic, it's a little bit awkward and jarring, because you're not used to seeing this material in such a processed form. I think that's why Mark's movie was one of my favorite parts.

the person I went with made some random comment about how mark's film isn't really a film, its just flashes of images. she was definitely thinking waaayyy too much into it.

Just to throw something out there--
Mark's film. How can she be certain that's the whole thing, anyway? That's probably just the opening montage.
And besides... I kind of consider the entire musical to be 'Mark's film.' Mark's point of view. You know?

I didn't want to start another RENT thread, but there is a cute video on broadway.com:
http://www.broadway.com/gen/Buzz_Video.aspx?ci=521510
Clips that we've seen before but interviews with Chris Columbus and the cast that must have been from the press junket but havn't showed up anywhere else as of yet.

I haven't gotten up to Adam yet, but this should get its own thread, regardless of if it makes people angry. It's good stuff. Idina and Tracie are so cute together.
I think I'm going to like the movie even more the second time. Just knowing what I'm in for.

Idina - on a pool table - with rolling balls.
That's enough to make me see the movie.
That's how you get people into the theatre.
Plus Tracie = HOTNESS!
I am so happy for her...
