So I know everyone here likes all kinds of music and I was wondering what performer outside of musical theater would you like to see on the Broadway stage and in what role(s)?
I personally think P!nk would be fantastic as Joanne in Rent, Beyonce would be a great Sarah in Ragtime or Lady of the Lake in Spamalot (I know it's not a stage musical but I can't wait to see her spin on A Star Is Born next year), even a rock musical for Alanis Morissette (who's shown she can be very theatrical/funny and sounds amazing live). Those are just some thoughts. I'm interested to see what you all come up with.

Posted: 12/5/11 at 10:31pmI gotta say, I think I'm the only gay man that doesn't LOVE Lady Gaga. Yes, she's quite talented, but I think her whole act is just a terrible gimmick.

Her act is a terrible gimmick, but did you see her on SNL? have you seen her new video?
As DUMB as it all may be, she's a great performer.
Have you seen Britney Spears' latest video "Criminal"? Poor thing can't even act. She looks so out of place.
I'm sure we can all find someone who can act better than GaGa, but the point is, she's got some talent.

Posted: 12/6/11 at 7:40amI have no idea what role, but Sting. He's proven himself as an actor, and God knows he's a good singer.

Sting would be a great Valjean or Javer, and might be one of the definitive Phantoms- note how his voice, while never really changing in style, is equally at home in rock, world music, jazz and classical material.
And Gaga would be an interesting Hedwig, maybe a second try at the "gender-ambiguity" casting that was largely abandoned after first try Ally Sheedy was no good in the role.

Okay...not gonna lie, GaGa as Elphaba would make me jump with joy. And apparently she is a fan of the show. So maybe one day. I could see her acting the eff out of the role too.
Or as Fannie...she would do well there too.

i too believe lady gaga is just so overrated and blah.
She panders to the gays.
Claims herself a role model and a leader of a movement-
sorry,....you don't assume the position- the people elect you.
Overhyped- best album of the century- is just retreaded bits of 90's dance fluff mixed with old Madonna imagery.
Her videos are creative to the point of massively ambitious and completely self absorbed.
Visually they are ok-but they say nothing- except to her die hard fans who have been eating the kool-aid she has served the past 2 years.
her live stage shows and videos are like an art student's project.
Never fully realized, never polished or fine tuned- and always something missing. That also goes along with her wanna be Bjork fashion sense.
She is darn ugly and has no sex appeal. - maybe Funny Girl, i guess.
but Gaga is best when sitting at a Piano and in tune with her music ala Tori Amos.
but all the flash and brouhaha---gets old fast. She can't act thru a paper bag.
That horrible disaster character she created "Joe Calderone' on the MTV awards???
The cast of Jersey Shore put her 'performance' to shame.
But there are pop stars out there that deserve a listen.
Leona Lewis- Pink-
and don't get me started on Whiny Rihanna or "Tits McGee" Katy Perry.....

Sting was on Broadway in a short lived revival of The Threepenny Opera as Mac the Knife in an 80's revival. Would have loved to have seen him, but I have yet to hear anything positive about that production.

CurtisB, I don't really know how you're in any place to say that, unless of course, you've worked with her before?
That's insulting to say about any performer without a personal reason to say so.
Gaga happens to have her roots in Musical Theatre and has played many leading roles... she embodies the character, and while she was in the rehearsal process, would only respond to her character's name.
