I don't know if you can count these as 'props' exactly .... but a lot of shows have various things that fall from the ceiling - eg large glitter palettes came down in the revival of "Follies", autumn leaves fell during one scene in "Invention of Love", etc. I try to get hold of at least one or two (or a handfull if it's small) of these and I place them in a small plastic bag inside the playbill for those shows. It probably sounds silly, but seeing those things can take me right back to the show and the scene where they appeared. (They also don't take up much room.)
Included with this was a packet of colored streamers and glitter that came down in the final performance of "Cats". I also have the Playbills from the second to last show (for the public) and the final show for the invited guests. I also have the special program made for the final performance AND the "Cats" disposable camera that was given to each guest at the party following the finale.
I have the Sally Bowles shotglass used by Natassa in the original revival cast, the harmonica (signed) used on opening night at Tommy, the life sized wooden Minksoff door with Alice Ripley in character as Betty Schaefer, a communist mask from the original Miss Saigon, a beer bottle signed by Bebe Newirth from Here Lies Jenny, and the opening night gift at The Producers from Thomas Meehan to cast members...a corci limosine with The Producers stamped onto it.
"Excuse my ignorance, but how do you get these things?"
We took our posters off of the theater doors.
I have Galinda's training wand and two buttons off of the emerald city guards' jackets in Wicked. I had two train tickets, a letter home from a hollywood blonde, and one of uncle jocko's card's from gypsy, but we gave it as a gift from a few of us in the cast to the director of our production of Gypsy
I have a streamer from La Boheme, several word cards from Spelling Bee, and for Christmas I got several of the "OG" notes and the newspaper from Phantom.

I had a tossed orchid from Mandy Gonzalez (as the guru in Lennon), until it rotted.
I recently added a cannon ball from Billy Elliot to my mini-collection. After 'Maggie Thatcher' shot the cannon into the audience, she fired one ball to the cast at stage right and then one to stage left. Carole Shelley was standing on that side and caught it. Then they all turned to the audience to try and get them to sing along with "Merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher". I was sitting on that side, in the 2nd row, and I was (apparently) the only one singing. Carole motioned for me to hold my hands up and she tossed the ball to me. (I've already promised it to a young Billy fan who's been wanting to catch one of those balls for a long time. Now he gets one direct from Billy's grandma!)

Honestly? I simply asked a favor of one of the actors I had become friendly with to bring me a prop. I was the seeing the show a few days later and simply reminded him with an email. He actually brought me two...one from that days matinee and the evening show we'd just seen. (Mine was a letter from SA.)
I have it "on display" in my classroom. My students LOVE it, even more so now that the tour (which is good, but not great with the exception of Blake Bashoff) is in town.

That's a pretty sweet costume to have...have you tried it on? Cause I probably would.
Not really a prop/costume, but I have a lot of press stuff from the Chorus Line gala back in 83, and some random invitations to varying important performances.
I have several "Repent" stickers from the original production of ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY.
