philly03, I came across a couple of signed Tale of Two Cities Playbills at the BC/EFA table right off the main entrance. I think they were opening night Playbills signed by the entire cast. I don't remember if I saw them early in the day when they were $40 each or towards the end when they slashed them to $10.

Oh well.

I was smart/not so smart. I got off work and caught the last 1/2 hour when the auction was ending.

For a grand total of $4:

2 Little Mermaid t-shirts
1 Little Mermaid souvenirs
Noel Coward Plays
a bag full of Mermaid pins
20 playbills including The Ritz, Make Me A Song, and Gypsy, etc.

They were HANDING stuff out. Selling windowcards for a dollar. The girl told me to take the whole box of playbills for a $1 and books were being given out for free. I had a really bad interaction at this one table. There were Broadway records and I found this couple fishing through the bins. I asked, "Are these free?" and they told me yes. So I'm fishing through and I grab Raul Julia in NINE and put it in my bag. The cashier lady SCREAMS at me. Practically SCREAMS. "We're closing!!!! GO AWAY!!" and I gave it back and explained what the couple told me. Dreadful. Otherwise, it was a great experience. Especially the boys at the Mermaid table. Pretty cute.

Maybe I should take a page out of whoever-that-was-up-above's book and say that if anybody has something they'd sell to someone who wasn't able to make it, let me know. Particularly interested in Equus and Billy Elliot stuff...looking forward to a time when I can actually go to these things...

Billy Elliot on average probably had the most expensive stuff - which is why I walked away with none of it when I was hoping to buy something.

Billy Elliot had a ton of signed window cards this afternoon for $100. They still had a ton by the time they were shutting down. I meant to inquire again on my way out to see if they slashed the price, but then I figured it still probably wouldn't be as cheap as I'd like, so I just left.

Just curious if anyone actually picked one up for cheaper.

They were selling souvenir programs for a mere $5, all of the names from the cast board in the lobby, signed photos from Sherie and Sierra, a bunch of pins and tattoos, and some robes which disappeared quickly.

Thanks to the weather, I didnt get in till about 3pm.

Hated that it was inside at Roseland... the venue just didnt work, but BCEFA made due with what was available. I enjoyed myself, for sure - I do every year - but missed it being in the alley. Alas.

No terribly exciting purchases this year, as I was laid off a few weeks ago. Picked up some shirts, 4 for $10, all Wicked. My roommate saw it a few weeks ago for the first time, but didn't want to spend that kind of money on a shirt - so I picked her up an assortment... as well as the Wicked onesie for my friend who just had a baby.

By the time I got there, the TKTS table was no longer doing the tickets as a raffle, rather, pay $20 bucks, stick your hand in the box and pull out a pair of tickets. I got Shrek.

Ok I am posting fast because I JUST got back to Boston, after waking up at 4:45 to Sunday morning to drive down. I ended up getting in the flea market around 11 am because of traffic, and I had three friends with me (it was all of theirs' first times.) I was THRILLED that they didn't delay it-because I would have had to miss it-however it was SCARY inside. I feel like I missed 90% of what was there because of how crazy packed it was. BC/EFA made due with what they had-so can't look a gift horse in the mouth.

What I got:

Rock Paperweight that says "Unless" (from the story The Lorax)

Sweeney Todd Revival Opening Night Gift (Ceramic Meat Pie Plate-got this as a gift for a friend who couldn't come.)
Tickets for Oleanna at the TKTS ticket pull
3 Free CDs-no clue who they are

And the BEST was meeting and chatting with Douglas Carter Beane and having him sign a cope of Little Dog Laughed. I do have to say that I thought it was VERY disrespectful to have not only Mr. Beane, but also Austin Pendleton, Charles Busch and EDWARD ALBEE crammed in a corner, backs to the main floor and about 10 feet away from half naked models for a hook up site. These are brilliant American playwrights-winners of countless awards, and I feel like most people missed the chance to meet them. Mr. Beane could not have been more friendly, and had his daughter with him. I never go after autographs, but his work is so amazing-how could I resist?

All in all, it was a slightly annoying day-didn't get the amount I usually do, but my patience was wearing thin-but still fun and worth the trip down. Even had to take a long lunch break once the fire department showed up.

Oh-and saw Toxic Avenger front row tonight (thanks to TDF) and was SO entertained by every single second of it! (That would be why I am getting back so late to Boston!)

CJR: Since the TKTS table did not do the raffle anymore, were you pretty much guaranteed tickets as long as you gave them $20? And it was more get what you blindly pick? Or was there still a chance you wouldn't get any tickets?

You were guaranteed tickets. You just paid $20 and reached in. I got Memphis once and Brighton Beach Memoirs. Traded Brighton Beach Memoirs with someone (because I already have tickets for it) and got Chicago.

There was lots of trading going on after people pulled their tickets.

By the middle/end of the day the small tickets that you ripped apart were gone and you got to pay $20 to pick a ticket envelope out-so you were going to get something-but not early on. That didn't really make sense to me-shouldn't they have known how many prizes they had and then put that many winning tickets in the big box?

Was it as fun as it is outdoors? Not really? Were there issues? Of course. But as someone else said in this thread (and I said on others), rescheduling an event of this size in NYC is next to impossible, so they made the best of it.

Yes, at one point the fire department told them they had to stop people entering and have a certain number of people out before they could start recounting exits and letting that number of people back in. (Like, if 25 left, they could let 25 in; but only after the previously named number (I didn't hear that one) had left the building.) But the event was never "closed".

I really needed some window card frames from Triton but I knew with it being moved indoors that it was going to be a madhouse so I just didn't go. Of course, hearing that someone got 5 frames for $40 makes me want to kick myself in the teeth.

I think they started letting people pull tickets because they were out of their stamped and not stamped raffle tickets. At least that's what appeared to happen. They've never had that problem before.

I avoided the table as for the past few years I have spent a lot on handfuls of tickets and never won only to see people next to me pick 6 tickets, all of which win. But looking back, I think the first year I might in fact have had a winner, but not having done it before and not knowing what to look for, I may have thrown it away. I don't know if that's what happened yesterday or if they really didn't have enough "winner" tickets. But I wouldn't complain if they had a display with a "THIS IS A WINNING TICKET" example on it.

If I knew at the end of the day I would have been guaranteed some tickets from the ticket pulling thing, I would have gone back. Oh well.

I know not every table would have thought of this or cared, but what would have helped with playbills is if they were at least alphabetized by the show's title. One table did that, which is how I found my Class Act playbill so quickly. I gave up at other tables if they were too difficult to search through.

And, the really stupid table set up of the day was the West Side Story table. I saw an open door very close to there, which is where I thought they said the stairs to go up were. Well, there were three tables set up, so if you were there, you couldn't reach the exit if there was a need to. It was also ridiculously crowded in that corner. I didn't even look at much there because of that.
