You are taking some disparate views expressed by others and trying to make it into an assault on your rights somehow. It is quite "trans"parent."
Can you elaborate on this? I'm a little confused by what you mean.
When people take the utterance of Happy Holidays to be an attack on Christianity is another example.
Oh my God @ this post/thread. I needed the entertainment today!!!!
And to your question, LizzieCurry: Because it's just too good-bad to ignore.

I know it's the middle of August, but you wouldn't believe it with the number of snowflakes piling up in this thread.
To all y'all complaining that you can't "like things" any more, you've had over a centuries' worth of musical theater entertainment created directly by and for you. Sorry that people outside of your experience are finally getting the chance to air their, deserved, grievances.
Like whatever the heck you like, just don't be surprised that maybe that 50-year-old piece of entertainment you like might offend someone. Time marches forward.

Yup.
People have told you, in other threads on this site (I've seen them!) that it's okay for you to like Tootsie, and I'm sure that sentiment extends to all those other shows you listed.
I get that you were on another board and got treated shabbily. That's not good. But you're not making yourself sympathetic at the moment (is that the goal?). Like what you like. No one here feels you shouldn't. Not even the people who might have issues with those shows seem to have an issue with you, or anyone, liking those shows.
I don't know if you need to chill or <<edited by BWW staff>>. But really, this issue is occurring only in your head.

I'm offended by the use of this gif as the poor child obviously has a disability and the 'why' could be taken to mean different things.
See how easy it is to offend and what one sees the other doesn't?
The scroll is my best friend.

Best argument I've seen for no caring if one's comments/posts might offend somebody. Online, there is always someone who be offended by anything.

I wonder about that, too...but i thought it was me.

If you can no longer enjoy timeless classics for fear of being called transphobic then maybe the problem is not with the timeless classics but with this brief flirtation with transphobia.
Twenty miles from Manhattan, not one in twenty could even tell you what the hell transphobia is.
It’s not pleasant at first being the victim of name-calling, especially when they gang up on you, but you soon realize that, as when you were all 12 year olds, you can call them names right back.
“Bricks and stones...”
God, how did I let myself get involved in this sappy discussion.

And the character was writtenin the first place forBaltimore's famous drag queen, Divine, who was a close friend of director John Waters. They preserved the tradition for the musical and the movie-musical remake."
I was just going to post this very thing. The part orginally called for it. So as someone who remembers the original movie, its not unusual to me at all. In this age of progressiveness, we're seeing people become more bold with casting choices which is fine, although personally, I don't think EVERYTHING needs a so-called 'gender bend' version. Personally, continuity and 'does it make sense' is an issue for me. For example, if they were to cast a woman of color to play Cossette in Les Mis, yet Fantine and the student were still caucasian, it wouldn't make sense, or Evita played by a black or an Asian woman (I am black by the way in case someone knee jerks and says "how dare she". It seems people want to see just anything all in the name of progressiveness and it doesn't matter if it doesn't jive with the production's original integrity
