I just did a search through the last 5 or so pages of posts and didn't see this, so forgive me if this is already a thread.
With Wedding Singer a recent example, what film from the past 20 years do you think would be a great Broadway show?
MY SUGGESTIONS:
The Hours
Brokeback Mountain
Silence of The Lambs
Good Will Hunting
Shakespeare in Love
Wedding Crashers
Swingers
Frequency
Field of Dreams
Casual Hook-Ups - Are They So Wrong?
Movies that could make for interesting musicals:
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Hudsucker Proxy
Amelie
A Very Long Engagement
Big Fish could be this weird Big River-type thing...
Down With Love. Seriously.
With a little work, MOULIN ROUGE would be a wonderful musical on stage.

Happy Gilmore
Finding Forester
Castaway would be easy too

Wow, I really love the idea of Eternal Sunshine.
Down With Love is basically a poor retooling of Pillow Talk - but any of the Rock Hudson/Doris Day movies would make great musicals.
I think either Kolya or Central Station (which are also practically the same movie) would make great musicals.
Then, of course, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome!!!
(kidding)
(also probably not the past 20 years)
DEATH BECOMES HER
ooooooo Amelie...good call Smaxie.

I think 'Do The Right Thing' would be awesome as a play. But Spike would have to direct it.
Yeah Eternal Sunshine.
Moulin Rouge here too...could be really spectacular.

Have they done Sixteen Candles yet? I think that could be pretty awesome.
i can't believe more drag queens haven't made a spoof of The Hours. that is one of the funniest movies of the past 20 years. i would LOVE to see it...
Are we really considering "The Wedding Singer" to be a great musical?

Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985, but still) They could do an opening dance routine from the movie's opening number, SHOUT! I'd love to see the showdown at the end with the musical number TECHNIQUE

American Beauty would be great!
I think Matchpoint and Bullets over Braodway would be good ones, too.

It is my dream to see Moulin Rouge on the stage with Ewan Mcgregor starring in it....It would be so magnificent!

The real Moulin Rouge, the story of Toulouse-Latrec could make a great stage musical, even if it's more than 20 years old. I don't imagine there would be a problem finding actors willing to perform on their knees
Ohhh, I'm all about 'The Hours'
I wonder if Cherry Jones would be in that?
