Was there anything that WON'T be missed about this production?
From the curtain, scrim, scrim, FULL ORCHESTRA with beautiful sound to the last look from Rose. Amazing
Sadly, I missed this...
but I listened to an "amateur recording" of Patti's "Rose's Turn" tonight....
OH. MY. GOD.

Great attempt, Rockabye!
Sammi Gayle was amazing indeed, she was adorable as Baby June but always had an edge to it which Leigh Ann Larkin perfectly complemented.
I'll definitely miss Laura Benanti's "I SAID TURN IT OFF!!!!" I never ever thought she'd scream like that.

I loved the bit with Sammi Gayle's "curtain call" when they turned the light off on her. The look she gave was fabulous.
Boyd Gaines observing the scene between Rose and Louise where Rose tells her she will be a star. And then he leaves. I have not felt such sympathy for Herbie before that scene.
Oh course, "You Gotta Get A Gimmick" was perfection
The train bit.

My son joined me for the last performance of GYPSY. He invited me to join him for a barbeque last night and over dinner he was still talking about the show. He loved the way the orchestra was used and the casting of the strippers. He also listened to the Lansbury recording and mentioned that Patti was so much better in the role because she sang with such intensity.
Before dinner was over he expressed hopes that the show would move to Broadway. This is coming from a guy who doesn't go to too many shows.
Just wanted to add "All I Need Is The Girl". Tony singing that song and the look on his face as he just wants to be dancing with Leigh Ann and the look of longing on Laura's face as she just wants to be "the girl". Such a great moment.

Tony Yazbeck really sold that song, especially @ the last show!!!!
I just thought it was great to see Benanti trying to dance like him, you could tell in Louise's mind she actually was, what a great moment for her character. I was beyond impressed by her acting.

The guy sitting next to me in the last row of rear mezz, who intermittently sang along to his favorite lines of dialog and songs 1/2 step behind the performers, and also commented on almost every scene; ie: when Louise came out in the gold sequined dress, "Look at that dress......holy ****."
Mistaking the stage door entrance for the main entrance and seeing Stephen Sondheim walk in.
Most importantly, losing my Patti virginity. Holy crow, she is incredible
Even though its my favorite musical....
I didn't see it and I won't miss it.
i gotta third YAZBECK's performance as tulsa ... he made me melt.
and i loved when mama and herb embraced and fell on the floor.
I love the look on Gaines' face in that picture. I also love the look going on between Patti and Laurents. And Sondheim with his pink flower. So cute.

Meeting Arthur Laurents and getting to thank him for putting this wonderful show onstage again
The guys behind me in last row orchestra singing along to "Gotta Get A Gimmick" - "If you want to bump it/bump it with a trumpet!"
Finally getting a good seat in Row A for the July 20th performance - which was flawless - the day before I left for vacation in Spain.
After seeing all of the Broadway Rose's, starting with Ethel Merman in 1959, I unfortunately had to miss this production. I envy all of you who have seen it and can appreciate new converts to America's greatest musical, GYPSY!!!
What are the plans now? Will it go to London? Will it return to Broadway? Will a recording be made? I have been away from the message board for some 10 days and feel out of touch. Please fill me in.
^London transfer is very likely (I've heard only LuPone will transfer, though some of the CC cast will as well *cough* LEIGH ANN LARKIN *cough*) and then a recording will probably be made. There's talks of Broadway after, but personally, I doubt it would happen. (Though, if it did, I would probably see it many many times. This is one of the few productions I could actually see myself getting really geeked out over and seeing multiple times)
But I think that's all the same as it was 10 days ago, I haven't heard anything new.
