I think it really depends on the maturity of the youth. As for a top age, I wouldn't put a cap on it. I have been in that theater with a bunch of 60, 70 and 80 year olds and they have absolutely adored it.

i dunno craig, when i went most of the people who werent enjoying themselves were older. the woman next to me was resorting to 'interesting' and 'different' to describe the show at intermission when I was loving it.

Posted: 2/3/05 at 4:32pmI think that the bottom age should be around 14 if they are mature enough. I know when I was that age my parents would have taken me to see it. Also, open minded grandparents would be fine.

The original poster, I believe, wasn't looking for only one persons viewpoint, so the more the merrier I say. There's no right answer - ultimately it's really dependent on the individual.

Posted: 2/3/05 at 5:48pmOk here goes. Last August I took a twelve year old. And she loved it. Granted she is very mature. She got everything and listens to the cd all the time. Also in the same trip I took her to see Beauty and The Beast. What can I say? She liked it too, except for KCR.

As this board seems to show, I don't think there's one right "age," it all really depends on the person. A certain 12-year old might love it but a certain 14-year old may not be ready for it yet. Just know the person you might want to bring, understand it is profanities, "puppet nudity," jokes about porn, racism, messages about life sucking, and decide if a person in question would understand and appreciate and be mature enough for it. I saw Rent when I was 12, I loved it, even though I didn't fully fully understand it the way I do now. And even when I was 4, my mother never had me watch "inapporpriate" things, I remember watching 90210 with her and in one episode when someone asked someone to sleep with them, I remember thinking oh that's cute they're gonna have a sleepover.

Posted: 2/3/05 at 6:02pmI took a friend of mine who is 13 to see the show last year. He loved it. Although, he is very mature and has been in broadway and off-broadway shows since he was 8. I think it would depend on the specific person and their maturity level.
