The story line is something that will be forgotten. The only actor I really liked was the mother monkey and her song.
However, ALL TECHINICAL ASPECTS OF THE SHOW WERE VISUALLY OUTSTANDING! And therefore it is a great show to see because it is such a feast for the eyes! I only saw it once, but I would LOVE to have seen it again.

Apology accepted. Although I wonder if you can get insulted by ignorance? The French shows were only successful in France. Romeo & Juliet was a huge flop on the West End. Notre Dame de Paris wasn’t the biggest success ever on the West End. The French have a very special and unique way of making musical theatre. It’s not my cup of tea either, but apparently the French go crazy about it. Does that make France a wasteland?
Tarzan will open in Hamburg, Germany later this year. At the moment Tarzan is only huge in Holland. Why? First of all the show ís better than it was on broadway, although it’s still ‘not the best thing’. But the marketing campaign is so overwhelming. If you didn’t know better you’d get the idea that the world would stop if you haven’t seen Tarzan. It has nothing to do with quality just incredibly perfect marketing.
Or are shows only good if you produce Sondheim? Well, good news, there will be a big open air production of Sunday in the Park with George this summer in Holland.

Actually there was a dutch tour of Jekyll & Hyde, before the broadway production which toured for about 3 months. The dutch translation exceeds the original lyrics by far. Although that can’t be very hard.

You should know that Joop van den Ende has never produced a Wildhorn show in Holland or anywhere in Europe. I still think it’s Japan who’s crazy about everything Wildhorn does.

My bad! You are correct. Joop produced Wildhorn's Dracula on Broadway. I do think it is interesting that there are almost 5 times as many productions of J&H being produced in the UK and US in 2008 than in Europe. But yes, virtually every production of J&H pre- and post-Broadway have been better than the Broadway production.

That made me smile! The woman who plays the "monkey mother" in the Dutch production has a gorgeous voice. I'm thinking about buying the cast recording b/c of her vocals.
