I thought T.R Knight was supposed to lead the cast in Lend Me A Tenor...I wonder if that means Parade may be coming to Broadway?
That's the reason I'm hoping for.
He was certainly wonderful in Parade.
It would be wonderful, but I don't think it is going to happen. There is no place available (with a thrust stage)for the Donmar production. Oh well.......
Could they not change some of the staging to make it fit for a proscenium? I didn't see the production, obviously, but things that are done on thrust stages don't necessarily have to stay that way. For example, the Company revival was on a thrust stage in Ohio, but not on Broadway.
The Donmar may be a thrust stage, but they're not as married to the idea of the thrust as, say, the RSC in Stratford are. And I've seen both Donmar and RSC productions successfully restaged - and not drastically either - from the thrust to the proscenium. It'd be a REALLY dumb reason to not transfer a production!

I agree with Weez on that one. If they are able to bring the production to Broadway I'm sure it would not be too hard to change the staging of the production.
Perhaps there just isn't enough interest in bringing it back. It was a huge hit the first time around, and look at Ragtime. It's on the hinge of closing.
Ragtime was a "huge hit" the first time around?
I never said the lack of a thrust stage was the ONLY reason I don't think it will happen in the near future. However, judging by the way the LA version was nearly identical to the original Donmar Warehouse production, I think it may be of greater importance than other shows. The intimacy of the Donmar/Mark Taper venues was a big part of the success of this particular production. I also do not think that, given the current economic climate, many producers would risk financing this show because it does have limited commercial appeal.
Rumor on the other board is that Josh Grisetti may be taking Knight's place, thus making his Broadway debut this season after all.
The other board is wrong.
Wait, Parade was a huge hit the first time around?
No. I was saying Ragtime wasn't a huge hit. Correct? Didn't it flop?
RippedMan, I think we were confused since you said: It was a huge hit the first time around, and look at Ragtime. I imagine you meant to say "it wasn't a huge hit."

Plus I think you meant "verge" not "hinge". I've never heard of anything on the hinge of closing.
Other than that, I agree with you. I'd love to see Parade, any version, but especially the Taper's, come back to Broadway, but I don't think it's likely.
TR Knight has been out of LMAT for a very long time, they just kept it very quiet. Looking forward to Shaloub.
Yeah. it sounded like you were saying, look, Ragtime did well the first time around, but even an old hit can't make it now. Your phrasing was confusing. No worries.
