The Sam Waterston LEAR is very high on my list. Also, QUEEN OF THE MIST, the new Lachiusa musical.

Agree about Cymbeline.
Love, Lost is fine, but it's been around awhile now ...
(I recognize the OP is traveling in from out of town, but don't think it can fairly be called THE show of the Fall season -- at least not *this* Fall season!)
I also would give serious consideration to Elevator Repair Service's "The Select (The Sun Also Rises)" at New York Theater Workshop. A rock-solid stage adaptation, flawless performances, and some truly compelling staging.

Posted: 9/25/11 at 9:47pmI did not enjoy The Select, for reasons that did not involve any of the actors. I found it in dire need of more shaping and consistency of concept- and found a lot of the staging as more than a little "aren't we clever?". That being said, the bullfight scene is thrilling and the performances, particularly Lucy Taylor, are strong.
