The Submission seems to be getting quite a bit of buzz.

I implore anyone who did not catch Cymbeline during its run at the New Victory see it during its run at Barrow St. It's a fantastic production/

The Sam Waterston LEAR is very high on my list. Also, QUEEN OF THE MIST, the new Lachiusa musical.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Agree about Cymbeline.

Love, Lost is fine, but it's been around awhile now ...

(I recognize the OP is traveling in from out of town, but don't think it can fairly be called THE show of the Fall season -- at least not *this* Fall season!)

I also would give serious consideration to Elevator Repair Service's "The Select (The Sun Also Rises)" at New York Theater Workshop. A rock-solid stage adaptation, flawless performances, and some truly compelling staging.

I did not enjoy The Select, for reasons that did not involve any of the actors. I found it in dire need of more shaping and consistency of concept- and found a lot of the staging as more than a little "aren't we clever?". That being said, the bullfight scene is thrilling and the performances, particularly Lucy Taylor, are strong.

I say "The Lyons" with Linda Lavin at the Vineyard or "Queen of the Mist" with Mary Testa.

Definitely "Once", but it's not around in mid-October.

I don't know much about it, but I'm excited to see "The Blue Flower" at Second Stage, starting mid-October

If memory serves, Blue Flower got good reviews up in Cambridge last year -- proving, I guess, that even a blind squirrel can find his nuts every once in awhile.
