broadwayguy, the thought of someone seeing any show as many times as that guy saw rent makes me absolutely sick. What happens when he discovers that there is a better show out there? Is he going to see that show over 1,000 times too?

Anyway:

Wicked - 3
Les Miz - 3

And if assassins stays open one more week than it is supposed to...I'd have seen that 5 times.

I saw NINE 9 times- 7 times with Banderas/ Rivera, twice with Stamos/Kitt.

I was absolutely fascinated with it, I just thought it was gorgeously staged... I was also lucky enough to be the guy who "sent the roses" at the final perf. I just think with that show, everything fit, it was just a perfect joy to watch.Some favs in the cast were Laura Benanti, Sara Gettelfinger, Elena Shaddow (who I later saw in NSMT's West Side Story, that girl is gonna go far) , and Linda Mugleston (a fantastic Luisa)

I can't fathom doing anything over 1,000 times with the exception of a few things and none of them have anything to do with seeing a broadway show :)

ouch broadwayguy. i love 'rent' and all but that's just bordering on the insane.

well, my puny offerings...
the rocky horror show - 9 times.
bare: a pop opera - 5 times (and most DEFINITELY many, many more to come. tickets go on sale july 5th!)

Les Miserables - 9 times ( several times on Broadway, several occasions at the West End, once in Paris - Cameron Mackintosh version but in French, and once here in a local production in Manila) - it's my favourite musical

Aspects of Love - 6 times

Passion - 6 times

But I think I will exceed these numbers when I finish my schedule for seeing The Boy from Oz before it closes

Yeah.. i will never forget hearing baout that RENT guy. I THINK his name is JOEL. 1000 performances multipled by 20 bucks piece...... and THAT was a few months ago that I heard he passed that mark!

sorry, that's sickening. I know someone who used to work at the Nederlander and he said some of those Rent fans are like drug addicts. They'd go to Rent any time they felt a little down.

I sat next to Joel the insane Renthead at the show last summer and he tapped his hands on his knees along to the beat the entire show. It was pretty damn obnoxious.

I've seen Rent 25 or so times since 1999. Only once in the past year though, and I only paid full price the first 3 or 4 times, everytime since then it's been $20 seats. You know...as if that justifies the obsession?

The original production of TWHM--34 times. Another 30 times for the subsequent tours and revivals.

For the record, I saw Dolly played by TGC, Ginger Rogers, Martha Raye, Betty Grable, Pearl Bailey, Phyllis Diller and Ethel Merman on Broadway. I saw Mary Martin, Eve Arden, Yvonne DeCarlo and Dorothy Lamour play the role on tour.

ive seen beauty and the beast 3 times within 2 years.
on the 6th i will have seen wicked 2 times
and ive seen hairspray 2 times (but i watch the movie like every day!)

Toxic Audio is currently 4 times, which will increase to 7 times, 2 weeks from now (and dozens more if you include seeing their show before they made it to Off Broadway)

Beauty & the Beast 6 times (4 on B'way, 2 at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center)
