Travesties
Imagine it:
One set and the male protagonist sings his songs from his prison in the fireplace! Oh, the choreography!
Equus. Though it could be a trainwreck of epic proportions.
I know!
Or writing a musical about a man trapped in a cave! Imagine the choreography! Things like that would NEVER work, no. Only when you can imagine the choreography.
Yeah!
the glass menagerie (as far as i know that has not been made into a musical...i hope i am not wrong)
and i agree with equus

EQUUS! THE MUSICAL!!! Featuring the hit song "His Analyst Thinks He's Crazy But He's Hung Like A Horse"!
I would say August: Osage County
I must disagree... I think Summer and Smoke would make a fantastic musical!
Take Me Out! Or...well...on second thought...
Angels in America
Burried Child
Doubt
I kinda like the idea of an Equus musical...if only for the kitsch factor that would be involved.
If screenplays count, SUNSET BOULEVARD should never be a musical. If you won't take my word for it, take Andrew Lloyd Webber's.
I think Equus would work as a Spring Awakening type musical.
DOUBT...definitely DOUBT and FROZEN. God, imagine FROZEN as a musical! No thanks.
TOP GIRLS as brilliant as it is should never ever ever be musicalized.
I have to admit, the Simpsons did rock the musical STREETCAR NAMED MARGE...
THe Children's hour....god those would be some boring songs...
Ballad on being a teacher
Ballad on lies
Ballad on maybe being a lesbian....
Oooooh! The Children's Hour!
Imagine a song called "Those Kids Might Have Licked Me, But I Never Licked Her"!

I can't believe that it got all the way down to tobiasragg the ninthe post in this thread to say that Spring Awakening shouldn't have been made into a musical.
When I saw the title of this thread I said to myself I am sure that spring awakening is number one on the list.
That being said, I can't see anyone doing a musical of The History Boys or The Pillowman.

Rabbit Hole...but then again, if Spring Awakening can do it...
I want to SEE Equus the musical...imagine the showstopper "Horsey Style"
I think Take Me Out could work as a musical if they were low key type songs like in A Catered Afair. When I saw the play I felt like there was music missing.
MOOSE MURDERS
ME JACK, YOU JILL
OMG MOOSE MURDERS!
Imagine it:
The Kick in the Crotch Ballet!
Blackbird
The Shape of Things
Fat Pig
