Hey Guys!
I was wondering if anyone has heard any news about is next for Michael Arden after Ace ?
I've heard rumour from a reliable source that he's in final callbacks for Eric in Little Mermaid . Also, on Wikipedia is says he is rumoured to be touring w/ Barbara Streisand in her 2007 European Tour.
Any news?
I don't know what's next for him, but I am glad this post came up because i was wondering where i can find ANY recordings of him. I can't find ANYTHING!
The only recording he is on is the demo of BARE: A POP OPERA, which was never commercially released, so copies are few and far between.
there was one on ebay earlier today... dont know if its still there...
touring w/ Streisand?? Little Mermaid callbacks?? when did this happen? it'd be wonderful if it worked out though

As much as I enjoy him, I don't see him as Eric in Mermaid.
He lost Eric in "The Little Mermaid" to Sean Palmer (who just finished understudying Marc Kudisch in "The Apple Tree.")
yeah I was a little suprised but that...but I think that guy can do just about anything.
that being said I can't wait for his next project which will hopefully be a hit!
..and he needs to play pippin in a revival!
You can also hear Arden singing "Free" from ...Forum on the Wall to Wall Sondheim CD. I wish they would have included his Giants in the Sky, but if I remember right, he bumbles a lyric.
Thanks for that one too! Keep 'em coming! I'm so late to the game on the Michael Arden train, he just managed to stay off my radar for a while but now i get the fuss!
He recently finished a run of ACE the musical at The Old Globe and I believe he has been in LA auditioning for TV and Film.
I know there will be another workshop of THE HUDSUCKER PROXY Musical in NYC soon, and Michael has done the previous ones in the lead, so he may be back in NYC soon.
let's hope i was so dissapointed that he didn't continue with 110 in the Shade to Broadway.
I just have to say, once again, curtainpulldowner's facts are very impressive.
I just heard he IS doing another Proxy reading next week. I also heard he is living in Los Angeles and his work, Ripley, is going to be part of a new musical festival in LA in May.

Oh man, I can;t wait for his Ripley!!!
In response to the question about where you can hear recordings of his: You can hear four songs of his at his music MySpace: www.myspace.com/michaelardenmusic. Be sure to give the song "Not Afraid" from EASTER RISING (a show he wrote) a listen.

I like the stuff he writes, but I just thought "Not Afraid" was kind of boring and anticlimactic.

I absolutely love Not Afraid and Easter Rising in general and it pretty much needs to be produced eventually.
But I would in general love to see Michael back in the [semi-]public eye.
Not Afraid is gorgeous!! as is First Letter, Still Waiting, Coming Home and all of his stuff! I love Easter Rising so much and would die to see a production. I really am interested to see what he changed since the Joe's Pub reading/concert. I also LOVE the little that I've heard from Ripley and would die to see that as well. I really hope he casts himself in it so we get the best of Michael Arden's talent!
I love "The Letter." That song is gorgeous. I love pretty much all of EASTER RISING. It is a really good show. I think Arden was really on to something when he wrote it. I'd love to be able to see a new reading of it.
Does anyone know how to get a recording of the Easter Rising reading? I'd realy like to hear more than "Not Afraid".

Jerry Zaks is directing Michael Arden as Norville Barnes in Hudsucker Proxy. Amy Spanger is Amy. Mark Cudish is Musburger and Kevin Chamberline is Hudsucker.
As much as I liked the music in EASTER RISING, the book and story in either readings were very overwrought and inconsistent. In general, maybe I think the whole "Kaleb's dying of terminal cancer and his former gay lover and circumstantial son come up to visit him and his fiancee" is a bit overwrought for my taste. I only hope when it is produced, the story will have matured and have been kept simple. And if it is produced, get Stephen Pasquale as Kaleb. That guy was a brilliant surprise in the role.
