well, it was being rumored that GOTTA DANCE(now HALF TIME) was going into the Music Box. Maybe it's not coming over after all.
Maybe Shuffle Along is reopening. Audra was scheduled to return in the Fall, right?
(I'm KIDDING, for anyone who doesn't have a sense of humor.)
The easy thing about The Humans was that they were moving to a slightly larger theater with the same structure... orchestra and mezzanine.
The tricky thing here is that DEH is slightly downscaling and to a venue without a balcony coming previously from one with a balcony.
I'll truly be surprised if the DEH rumor is true.
ETA: Didn't realize the Music Box only has seven fewer seats than the Belasco. So maybe it won't be a major change after all.
If Evan Hansen transfers, what does that mean for Belasco? It's a gorgeous venue, one which I hope plush period pieces would make a better use of. Blackbird, for instance, sounded all sorts of wrong for it; but they ended up turning off almost all ceiling and column Tiffany lights to extend that dark gloomy office cube feeling.
Amelia could be interesting there, but I was under the impression it has a very modern feel to it.
Afterthought - Bandstand would be amazing there too, I'd say. Except for the sightlines from rear balcony seats.

Scheduling is not changing. There will be no substantial date change. Don't worry.
Surely the Belasco won't be left dark till Spring?
With DEAR EVAN HANSEN, look at the seating charts. The Orchestra and Mezzanine line up EXACTLY. Music Box just has 2 more seats on each side section. They'll wind up just moving people to the same exact seats and have balcony folks move down to the new R Mezz rows. Seems pretty easy actually.
So will those of us with hard tickets for Evan Hansen have to mail our Belasco tickets in and be reissued tix for the Music Box?

Has DEH been confirmed for the move? I was planning on buying my tickets this week

Confirmed or announced? There's a big difference
I have a front row mezz ticket for DEH. If they move will that screw anything up? Seeing this December 17th and am very much looking forward to it.
I tweeted at the DEH Twitter account and got no response. It's not like them to not respond.

As someone who claims to be gainfully employed in the business, I'm kind of shocked you're teasing extremely sensitive (AND CONFIDENTIAL) info on a public message board. The announcement should be coming anytime tomorrow - it's related to another show already slated for Broadway; not a new one!
"
So much for that announcement today, huh Liza?
And nothing came out today either. This must be embarrassing for a few posters on here...

^^^ LMAO
If the Belasco has only a couple more seats than the Music Box what would be the point of switching theatres?

Although the Belasco is a beautiful theatre, it's on the "wrong side" of Broadway (skewered in Hedwig when she referred to the theatre as being "Broadway-adjacent" and E-Broa) while the Music Box is on the prime 45th St. block between B'way & Eighth.
I also know that the Belasco has extremely limited wing space. I don't know what the stage considerations are for the Music Box.
As an offside, I wonder once the Hudson Theatre reopens a few doors down from the Belasco (as well as the more hospitable Stephen Sondheim replacement) - if "EBroa" might become a bit less cursed.

No upper balcony to sell and greater opportunity for premium pricing. That also gives it a slightly more intimate feel. I imagine biggest reason is location. A ton of more foot traffic than the Belasco. It makes perfect sense.
Well it still doesn't explain why they waited so long. Shuffle Along announced its closing way back in June, and the theater has been empty since end of July. Was there supposed to be another show here which fell through, clearing the way for DEH to snatch it up?

When will we know re DEH taking the Music Box as opposed to the Belasco?? I have seats booked and really like the location I picked.
When was the last time something like this happened? I remember the ill-fated Mamet THE ANARCHIST swapping the Lyceum for the Golden before opening (for all the good THAT did!)
It makes more sense at the Music Box. The Belasco is such a gorgeous theater, but not sure it suits this show very well. I don't think wing space matters. 2nd Stage has like no space, and it worked fine there. Unless they're expanding the show.

So still no word if this is transferring theatres?

It 100% is, announcement should be out this week. The producers are "thrilled" with the new venue.
