It 100% is, announcement should be out this week. The producers are "thrilled" with the new venue.

At this point, my personal quest is to make the "What's Next For Belasco?" post whenever the announcement is actually official.

They have the potential make more $$$ per week in a theatre without a balcony, which is probably the biggest reason. The Music Box also has a more intimate feel than the Belasco.

The Music Box is also on a busy street(45th) with many other theaters. The Belasco sits by itself off on 44th Street. The street traffic that'll pass the Music Box is also an added bonus for switching.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

At this point should I hold off on buying tickets to DEH?

I would assume that you would be safe if you bought tickets now. They would just move your seats to the equivalent in the music box.

Depending upon what price point you're looking at, it might actually be a great time to buy tickets. If I could buy a $49 balcony ticket for the Belasco that'll end up getting moved to the rear mezzanine at the Music Box, I'd be thrilled given that I won't be surprised if they tack an extra $20 or $30 onto that lowest ticket price; the view from the back of the mezz at the Music Box is FAR better than the view offered by the balcony at the Belasco, and I'm sure the producers will want to capitalize on that.

Anyone know for sure if the preview dates will change? They are still selling tickets so I hope not. Flying up to see it the first Friday of previews.

When was the last time something like this happened? I remember the ill-fated Mamet THE ANARCHIST swapping the Lyceum for the Golden before opening (for all the good THAT did!)

I think a few years ago Honeymoon in Vegas was originally scheduled to play the Brooks Atkinson but switched with Love Letters and took the Nederlander instead.

No, Love Letters played the Brooks Atkinson.

Next to Normal was originally announced for the Longacre (and I believe they were going to close the balcony) before switching to the Booth following the abrupt departure of The Story of My Life.

WHEN THEY ARE GOOD AND READY. But seriously, the team behind this show is top notch and will release details once they have worked out any question that could be thrown at them (of course, assuming everything is true).
