Me and my wife are going to NYC next week and we have a couple of slots to fill in our show schedule. Here's what we're seeing so far:
Monday - Altar Boyz
Tuesday - Jersey Boys
Wedneday - Grey Gardens & Spring Awakening
Thursday - OPEN
Friday - Drowsy Chaperone
Saturday - Matinee OPEN & Inherit the Wind
We are considering Spelling Bee, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Legally Blonde & 110 in the Shade. Any recommendations for the last 2 slots in our schedule?
The last time we were in New York we saw Avenue Q, Hairspray & Lion King. We loved Q and Hairspray but didn't care for Lion King.
I realize this question has probably been asked many times before and I really appreciate any help that you can give.
Thanks!

I've heard good things about 110 in the Shade, but I haven't seen it. If you can get tickets to Curtains, I suggest seeing that.
Are you a Sondheim fan? If you are, consider seeing Company. Spelling Bee is a cute, fun show and if you're lucky you might be chosen to be a speller on stage.

Thanks for all of the suggestions so far. There's so many shows that we want to see - I wish we could fit them all in. I might've just made things more difficult by adding a couple more shows to our "considering" list.
I want to be a guest speller! Anything you can do to increase your chances of being picked?? Also, I know Spelling Bee has a lottery - but do they have a student rush, too?

If you want a show that's both entertaining and good in quality, see 110 in the Shade. That's my recommendation. If you want to see an entertaining show that doesn't have a ton of artistic merit and is not that great in quality, see Blonde or Curtains (though I would recommend the former). If you want a really artsy show that isn't that entertaining unless you live and breathe Sondheim, see Company. DO NOT under ANY circumstances see Moon for the Misbegotten.
110 IN THE SHADE and RADIO GOLF.
Spelling Bee does have student rush. When I tried it I got seats right in the middle. I highly reccomend the show.
Oh and to increase your chances of being picked, wear alot of one color, wear jeans, be in a large group, tell them you're a good speller, get there early and tell them you're not an actor. Or just have something about you that can easily be made fun of.

From your list, I'd say 110 and Spelling Bee. Have fun!

110 in the Shade might be a good choice for us, too. Does anyone know how the rush is for that show? I see that it is a general rush, so I'm guessing that it would be pretty busy?
Oooh... thanks for the tips for being picked to be a guest speller. I've never worn jeans to the theatre, but I might try it for this show.
The recommendations are great everybody - thanks so much!
They have general rush for $26.25 and it's usually in the rear mezzanine. It's usually up on TKTS, too. I got great seats from TKTS...eighth row center orchestra.
"company...it's my life"
I haven't seen the show, so I know nothing about the show and Im not talking about the show. But to make a statement like that, it's just sad.
ooh I vote for Spelling Bee, 110 and Curtains
Company is great too, but I am a big Curtains fan...so if you can, SEE IT!
