I've found that Terry does not like much, but when he does like something he really comes through for it in his reviews. I though his review of The King and I was absolutely lovely.
Phillypinto write: "He didn't even like BOOK OF MORMON."

The score of THE BOOK OF MORMON has a fair deal going for it, despite some flaws in its craftmanship. The book starts off better than it ends though, with some deft scene work at the top eventually disintegrating into little more than punchlines and song cues.

I feel like I remember him writing a rave for Matilda.
Basically, if it's not playing on Bway he loves it.
Every week I can count on a rave for a production at a local theater in the sticks and a pan for whatever new show opened in Manhattan.
Like clockwork.
For the record I also really enjoyed Cry Baby.
Sh1tty Sh1tty Bang Bang was awful.
He also said he "didn't get" Tennessee Williams. Enough said.

Yeah, I was just going to say his review for The King and I was very passionate saying he doubts he would see another production of this show top this one.
I also think he was kind to Gentleman's Guide as well.

I have found that at times Terry Teachout reviews shows from a political perspective rather than for their artistic merit.
I think that's true of his reviews of plays more than musicals.
