What shows will fill the dark theaters this fall?

A number of musicals are likely to close this summer.  Any thoughts as to which shows are likely to fill them this fall or winter?

Other than those that have already announced a closing date, I don’t know which others would close before summer concludes. Maybe King Kong. Maybe The Prom if it doesn’t pull off an upset. But even those I would think would try to make it through summer to pull in summer tourist moolah, assuming percentages increase. And I have no idea what yet to announce shows would replace them.

I’m still hoping for Roman Holiday though I know it’s unlikely to come in anytime soon. I imagine the next we’ll hear of it, if anything, is another tryout. I still think it would be great for Roundabout.

Any word on what theatre West Side Story is getting? Doesn't it start previews in December?

I believe someone on here spoke with a Shubert person and said as of now that WSS is going to the Barrymore. 

 

Id expect The Inheritance to transfer and take one of the big play theatre, either The Hudson, Belasco, or The Jacobs. Lehman Trilogy is expected to play Lincoln Center.

I can definitely see The Inheritance taking one of the theatres. And I’m still waiting on an announcement (maybe tony week?) about company coming over. I also feel that after the reviews on Maggie Smith the play that she’s in will transfer for a brief run.


But does it not seem like a number of shows this summer are closing with no announcements of what will take over the theatre

I thought the King Kong would have closed shop by now and wss would have taken the broadway theatre

The Barrymore, Belasco, Booth, Cort, Golden, Jacobs, and Vivian Beaumont are all without tenants for the fall.  That seems like a decent amount.

Wouldn't surprise me if Tea At Five with Faye Dunahway played the Booth or Golden.

Golden has Glengary Glenross however it is cancelled now. So back to being without a tenant

Belasco has Slave Play.

Booth has Love Supreme with Lin.
