Hello! At the end of August/early September, I'm going to be moving to the city for college. My mom is coming to help move me in, and she told me that she wants to see a Broadway show with me before she leaves. We wanted to see Grey Gardens, but it closes too soon. Together, we've already seen Spelling Bee, Hairspray, Avenue Q, Chicago, Wicked, Phantom, and Rent, and probably seeing Spring Awakening with my mother would be a poor choice. What would be a good show to see with her? It doesn't have to be a musical, or light fare, but I want her to get to see something really good. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Legally Blonde
The Drowsy Chaperone (if it is still open)
Mary Poppins

A Chorus Line-without a doubt. An amazing show that has humor and emotional depth with some killer dancing.

I would say either Curtains or A Chorus Line.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Spring Awakening is the best musical to bring your mom to in order to strengthen your relationship. Now my mom likes me.

Double post (needed to)

Just kidding about the last post... I think Curtains or The Drowsy Chaperone (which should be open millie) is a good idea.

I saw spring awakening with my mom, but, granted, I made her sit on the other side of the theater.

Can, can I have it?

See Drowsy! And yes, Millie-dillmont, I was shocked that you didn't recommend Curtains in your first post - given your avatar re: What to see with Mom

If you saw Avenue Q with your mom, I have a feeling Spring Awakening wouldn't be too bad.

One time, Patti LuPone punched me in the face...

It was awesome.

If a tour of Piazza ever comes around again... see that with Mom. I tried to take my Mom as part of her Mother's Day present and she said she hates that "opera s!@#!" Ugh.

Maybe you'll have better luck than I did! re: What to see with Mom

All Shows I would or have taken my mother to. Skip Legally Blonde and Curtains, I think they are not worth the money

Mamma Mia!
Phantom
Les Mis
A Chorus Line
Drowsy Chaperone
Mary Poppins
Chicago

I loved Curtains, and I'm a mom, AND I took my teen to see Q more than once AND Spring Awakening. Curtains is sweet, she'll enjoy it.

Curtains or A Chorus Line

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

I'd say Curtains... I recently saw that with my parents and it was very enjoyable for all! It's too bad you'll miss Grey Gardens! other suggestions...perhaps les miserables, A Chorus Line, or Drowsy... but I'd got with Curtains!

My mom and I have tickets to Spring Awakening! We're both very much looking forward to it.

I chose, and my world was shaken. So what? The choice may have been mistaken. The choosing was not.
