Anyone know why he's missing tonight's performance?
I don't know the answer to your question, but he was also out for the matinee today.
Michael McCormick was good. I can't compare him to DHP, but I enjoyed his performance.
I saw the show last night and Pierce sounded quite sick. He had a lozenge in his mouth during "Penny in My Pocket". He was still a trouper and gave a fine performance. Do he and Bette kiss at the end usually? They didn't last night.
I saw Michael McCormick as well, he was quite fantastic. I thought he did a great job in the role. I cried through the Hello, Dolly Reprise. And Dolly and Horace didn't kiss tonight either, so it might not have to do with DHP's sickness. I personally didn't think it would have been in character for them to kiss either.

I was at tonight's show. Overall I really enjoyed Michael McCormick's performance. I really love DHP and was disappointed he was out, but what could you do. Overall he was a really funny Horace and had great chemistry with Bette. Hope David gets better soon. Wish I could've seen his performance. Bette was a powerhouse as well by the way. A performance for the ages!
I wasn also at the May 5 performance and David sounded croaky. He did sound sick. Hope he gets better soon.
Anyone know if DHP is back today?

He must be very sick. He missed very few shows in SPAMALOT & CURTAINS. he also never missed a show in VANYA & SONYA.
I do hope he's back on Wednesday and that he feels better very soon! ![]()

Yeah David Hyde Pierce is a COMPLETE professional and never misses unless it's a true problem. I hope he really feels better soon. They also probably don't want Bette to catch what he has so even if he was feeling better today, it was probably decided to wait until Tuesday so he's not contagious or anything. Like I said, I love him as an actor and was disappointed not to have seen his performance but his understudy was very good and I completely understand why he was out.
I thought he was busy directing a workshop of It STILL Should of Been You.

Yes, David was at the 2pm matinee. He sounded great! As did Bette, although her speaking voice sounded a little scratchy to me, but that could just be Bette. It was a performance and production NOT to be missed. The definite highlight of day one of my trip!
I was so thrilled that David Hyde Pierce was back because I saw tonight's show and it was spectacular! I was sitting in orchestra far right and could not see some of the action on the right, which was disappointing. Wish I would have known this when I purchased them, as I may have splurged for better seats. Great show!
