for Hairspray! I've had the OBCR since it came out, but only recently have I listened to it on a regular basis, and I LOVE IT!
The music, the lyrics........amazing.

I've seen it over 35 times...don't judge.
I just can't get enough of it...I go once every week! It really is hands down the best show on Broadway because it has EVERYTHING that makes for an enjoyable theatre experience.

You know, Zepka, for a while I thought that your signature pic was Tyler Hanes from 'spray. That's a compliment, btw.
I'm seeing the show again tomorrow! Yay!

Heh,
I totally agree with this thread. Hairspray is my drug of choice. It shows that a show can be intelligent and have such heart, and at the same time be something that is so often lacking these days in intelligent entertainment: ENTERTAINMENT!
Can't wait for Catch Me if You Can.

Posted: 4/22/06 at 9:31pmThanks for finally writing a part for girls like me! Though I don't know if I will ever listen to Good Morning Baltimore again (at the Hairspray movie auditions I was pretty much inundated with that song)I still love the show.

HAIRSPRAY= LOVE.
Me being a chubby kid, life is easy for a chubby kid making it in the world of perfect people. I applaud Hairspray- its message is amazing, plus Marc Shaiman- a genius. His music is fantasic, it gets ya moving, shaking and by the end of the recording- you cant stop the beat! Its fanastic and I just purchased HAIRSPRAY: THE ROOTS today, and I adore it.
Thank you, Marc Shaiman- you're a genius... a genius!
Edit- Sorry, I typed that rather quickly and didn't check my spelling. I apologize.

Posted: 4/22/06 at 10:12pmYes, thank you very much Marc. I've only seen it once (the original touring cast in RI in 2003), but that doesn't mean I don't think it's awesome!

Everytime I walked by a Hairspray poster in NYC, I'd have to stop my mom and point out your name and tell her, "He served me a long time ago in a discussion about Funny Girl" :-P We saw the show on our last trip to NYC (back in March). I tell people that when I was watching You Can't Stop The Beat, that was my FAVORITE moment I've ever spent in a theater. No joke--I absolutely LOVED it. The bass part just...ahh.
I saw the touring production tonight--and even though the set was VERY toned down, it was still an amazing production.

I was so in love with the show.. by the time i got to NY - Summer of 04- I had so much built up emotion that I cried at like every scene. I just couldnt believe I was there seeing what I was seeing.
I saw it twice while there - I would have seen it three times.. but there was a ticket mix up. It was a wonderful theatre experience.
When I go to ACL in October- If you hear a guy weeping... yeh that will be me.

let's just say that it's all I play as I drive around Palm Springs, etc........and there is NOTHING more satisfying than pulling up next to a kid blaring his music, and suddenly 'Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now" is blaring louder..........(sweet revenge)
I am seeing it in June for the first time at the Pantages.......and I cannot wait!

Posted: 4/24/06 at 10:40amLOVE the show, saw it at least a dozen times (lost count after that!) with every combination of casts. I've also bought tickets for family members, friends, and even as a thank you to someone who works for me. This show makes me laugh, cry, and JUST FEEL GOOD!!! Can't stop the beat!! Thank you Marc Shaiman!
