Besides Fences, of course. I'd love to see Jackie and Arrival see stage adaptations. Moana and La La Land also seem like they will eventually be adapted for the stage.

Manchester By the Sea feels like a play. Kenneth Lonergan started as a playwright, so I'd like to see it happen in the future.

I saw Moonlight and it just felt perfect as a play on broadway. You never know.

It's not from 2017, but Brooklyn from last year has potential to be an excellent play.
I can also see Florence Foster Jenkins (for which Streep was nominated) to be adapted into a musical.

I disagree. Manchester DEEPLY feels like a movie to me. Just because a film is dialogue-forward doesn't mean it'd make a good play.

I think that a LaChiusa adaptation of Brooklyn could be interesting.

We did already have Souvenir, although it wasn't a musical.

Isn't Moonlight an adaptation of a play?

Florence Foster Jenkins has an extremely similar concept to Mrs. Miller Does Her Thing, a new musical by James Lapine opening at Signature Theatre in D.C. with Debra Monk in a few days!

Moonlight is based on the play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue.

Yeah, Moonlight is basically already a play. And "Souvenir" is basically Florence Foster Jenkins. But maybe now is a good time to revive it? It to got excellent reviews the first time around, but failed to create an audience.

I'd love to see a low-key musical made of Moonlight.
