I think Steve Carell has both the talent and star power to make a successful switch.

Stunt casting is usually a last resort for a show that is not doing well, so they can appeal to mainstream America.

I'm still pulling for a revival of The Odd Couple starring James Spader and William Shatner.

That sounds like a great idea. I'm ready to buy my ticket.

As long as these so-called TV celebrities have done some level of stage work (most do lots of theatre out in Los Angeles during their hiatus), I'm all for some good 'stunt' casting.
I don't think Steve Carrell has the chops to work on Broadway as his work heavily relies on improvisation (self-professed), which CAN work on Broadway if the show relies on it. He's one of the many actors who can NOT stick to the written script (again, self-professed), which is what has worked in his film work, and especially on NBC TV's THE OFFICE. Yes, all those genius moments and ad-libs are not scripted -- which can only work with other actors used to this style of 'acting'. You'd be surprised how many actors CAN'T work in the 'improvised' style.
Lee Pace
Kristen Bell
Debra Messing
Michael Chiklis
Tina Fey
Mariska Hargitay
Chris Meloni

Steve Carell as Panch in Spelling Bee!
I would love to see Tina Fey and Amy Pohler do the female version of the odd couple
Christhefish, their movie that's coming out is kind of like that. It's called Baby Mama.
The TV celebrities that I think would be great on Broadway all have major stage background and most have been on Broadway or off-Broadway at one point or another: Kristen Bell, TR Knight, Chandra Wilson, Sandra Oh, Edie Falco, Tina Fey, Jane Krakowski, Calista Flockhart, Rachel Griffiths, Elizabeth Mitchell, America Ferrara, Vanessa Williams, Michael Urie, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Debra Messing, Anna Friel, Lee Pace, et al.
Hugh Laurie
yankeefan, that would be a great production.
Marg Helgenberger and William Petersen.
Together, of course
Both have done theatre, Billy especially.
I'd LOVE to see them as Velma and Billy in CHICAGO...
I have heard rumors they gave an impromptu performance of A LITTLE PRIEST on the set of their TV show CSI
Hugh Laurie
Mariska Hargitay
Chris Meloni
Tina Fey
Hugh Laurie's a great choice!

Lauren Graham. Amazing actor with a stage background.
Tina Fey and Amy Adams.
Amy Adams is a TV celebrity?

She was on a few episodes of "The Office" as Jim's girlfriend, but no, she's not a TV celebrity.
Yeah, I guess not...sorry! I don't think sometimes. I would love to see Amy Adams as Glinda, though!
How about a revival of "Take Me Out" with Mark Consuelos (Darren), James Denton (Kippy), Matthew Fox (Davey), Dylan Mcdermott (Toddy), Michael Vartan (Mason) and "Lipstick Jungle" newcomer Robert Buckley (as Shane)...
Just dreaming
I think that Steve Carrell could do something like NLB did [is he dead?] but won't be trying out for the wizard any time soon, but I don't know his voice too well so I could be wrong.
I would love to see Jane K. on broadway- she's very well aware of her body and I think she could bring alot to the stage.
jeffrey- oh my god that cast might not be good- but it would be HOTT.
I'd like to see Trent Ford in a musical personally. or Jason Ritter. or Alexz Johnson

In the opera we put on last month, my friend's costume included a hat that had, written on the inside on masking tape, "Chenowith." It was pretty awesome.
