Firstly, personalized Sondheim letters?! Wow! I'd love to hear that story!
Secondly, I don't live so far away from the city so I don't usually send stuff. I've only sent letters to Tovah Felshuh(?) congradualting her on her unbelievable performance in Golda's Balcony and Stephanie D'Abruzzo (last performance gift) and have recieved personal letters back.

I forget to mention that I have a letter typed by and signed by Ethel Merman in response to a request that I sent to her when she was in "Hello, Dolly!" I had read that a 45rpm record was available in the lobby of the St. James Theatre which contained the 2 songs added back into "Hello, Dolly!" when Merman took over the role. I sent her a nice note, $4 in cash, and she sent me back the change along with the recording and a very nice note.
Has anyone written and got a reply from Julia Murney at one of the tour stops? I wrote to her in Boston and haven't gotten anything back yet and I wanted to know if I should send another letter out at the next stop.
Personally I've only gotten signed photos back from Krity Cates and Eden Espinosa.
JusgtChillin - sending a note at a tour stop is really hard. Many times the performers do not get them due to the fact that mail is not usually sent to indivivdual theatres but to the main managinng offices, such as Broadway in Chicag handles most of the houses where tours come in Chicago. What I ususally do for the touring casts is find out who handles the show, such as Dodgers tours did Urinetown and Nina Lannan does Mamma Mia, then jsut email the company and ask if you can send _________ a note in care of them. Be sure to mention what show. Sorry, that was a really long post and if it does not make sense shoot me a PM and I'd be happy to try and help.

I've gotten signed Playbills back from Ashley Brown, Kelli O'Hara, Greg Jbara, and Lauren Kennedy. I've also had email conversations with Patti LuPone, John Patrick Shanley, and Melissa Errico. I also got a copy of the Dracula demo recording from Melissa in the mail.
I got back an autographed photo that I had sent to Isabella Rossellini when she was performing at the E59E59 Theatre. I also got an autographed photo & letter from Melissa Errico when she did Aunt Dan & Lemon at Clurman Theatre. I'm glad to hear that Idina Menzel signs. Last November her husband Taye Diggs was quite unfriendly when he was doing Soldier's Tale at the Second Stage Theatre. Was the autographed Playbill that you got from Liev Schrieber and cast of Glengarry Glenross signed by Alan Alda? He is also very fan unfriendly.
nicole neumann22, I wrote John Lloyd Young, and within a week I got a letter back. It was on his own Jersey Boys stationary, and all handwritten, answering my questions. It was a really sweet letter, and it made me so so happy.
I don't want to start another thread, so just figured I'd ask here. Normally I know easily where to send fanmail to someone. But what about people in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. Where would you send that to? Anyone know if the stagedoor or theatre itself has its own specific address?

Mikey- How did you get the whole cast to sign some of your programs? Did you send it to one cast member in particular and asked if they could have the rest of the cast sign it?
This is SORT of the same thing, I guess... when "MOLM" was on Broadway (the recent one with Stokes), wife and I, and a friend ended up seeing the show 27 times. The cast got to know us, and we were invited to the cast party, and Ernie Sabella took us backstage. On the last day of performances, Don Mayo gave me his "Cast" jacket.... very cool !!!
We have since got to know Stokes a bit, and went to see him backstage again when he was at "Feinsteins", and was lucky enough to exchange e-mails a few times. Incredibly nice man !!!
