they usually just have the cast sign a bunch of playbills and then send them out to people who ask whenever they receive requests. For instance, a week or so before Curtains closed I sent out a request for a cast signed playbill and I got a signed opening night playbill

And July is one of the thinnest Playbills I've seen. I really want one signed by the whole cast, but I don't know how I could get one.

Your best bet is to just make repeat visits to the SD. They stopped sending them out b/c the cast is so big and it became difficult to get that many signatures.

why don't you just write to a specific actor in the show and ask if they could sign it, and if they could also get x,y,z, etc. to sign also. It worked for me with the drowsy chaperone a few years back.

I would do the repeat stagedoor thing, but not everyone comes out.

I sent to one of the Ballet Girls and her have all of them sign a Playbill. I don't want a specific group of people's signatures, I want the whole cast. I should try to send again and stress the "whole cast" aspect.

Yeah, I would try again. I got a cast signed playbill earlier this year. It took about 2 months, but it was well worth it.

I got an unsigned Playbill along with a letter that said "enclosed is the signed playbill you requested" but encouraged me to make a donation to BC/EFA in return. Weird.

I got a signed playbill from the cast of MEMPHIS yesterday. A friend of mine that works at the theatre had told me he would send me one last week, and he mailed it 4 days ago, so it only took 3 days for him to get it signed.

I've never done anything like this before but I'd love a signed playbill from STEADY RAIN and don't have the patience for the stage door. How do I send something to get one? :)

Really? That's strange. I just received a signed Playbill about a week ago with that same letter.

I think the only reason i got one (a signed playbill by cast and crew from next to normal) was because Alice accidently (sp?) sent out her responce without enough postage so she included it as a "I'm sorry it took so long" thing.

i'm new to the boards. i've sent stuff to several individual people i've gotten things back from:
-Patrick Wilson: signed Oklahoma photo
-Jonathan Groff: signed headshot & Spring Awakening program
-Sutton Foster: signed headshot
-Megan Hilty: signed headshot

i recently (sort of) sent letters to Matt Cavenaugh & Gavin Creel

but i have a question. does anybody find it more effective to send something to the cast in general or do you find it more effective to send it to individual people?
and if you send it to the cast in general, what do you say in your "request" ?
